"Hmm?" Sometime during his retreat the other bit of fontech came to life all on its own, causing Jade to blink down at said object in his pocket before pulling it out. The accent was completely foreign to him, but it didn't take long for him to take the initiative. In practically no time the Colonel had his notebook whipped out, quickly writing down everything this enigmatic man spoke.
"So we're to receive our aide in riddles?" Now it really was starting to feel like a good old-fashioned mystery, but Jade hardly minded. In fact, he was almost excited about the whole aspect, and chose to solve these conundrums on his way to the 'little dream's' room.
The second floor, finally. So far, Chase hadn't seen any corpses (although they would have improved the aura of the building) or even too many bloodstains, so nothing had slipped out of the woodwork to attack people around here yet. Or they had just escaped without contact.
Depressing, if you thought about it.
If his memory served him right, straight ahead would lead to the area above the Sun Room, where there would doubtless be entertainment, and near there was the entrance to the Chapel. Excellent.
Ichigo shined his flashlight up and down the familiar looking hallway. There was no sign of the child from last night, and he frowned. He hoped the boy was safe. It didn't matter that the child had harmed him, or even Rukia for that matter, he was still scared and alone.
The idea made him feel cold inside, despite the coat he had on.
Finding nothing in this area, he headed further down the hall.
Keigo managed to conquer the stairs with little incident, even if his leg was throbbing now. They had fixed the bandage after his shower earlier that day, but he knew that if he kept running on it, the wound would reopen for sure. Whatever, he thought, I can handle it for a little longer!
With that, he started up again, wincing as he tried to keep a steady pace after who he assumed to be Ichigo.
The trip up the stairs was blissfully quick and painless, and a sweep of the light revealed no monsters immediately before them. But Homura could hear the sounds of battle coming from ahead, the hall he had wanted to take Hijikata down.
A change of plans, then.
"This way." Homura headed instead to the left, their trip changed from mere metal gathering to exploration. He had to be careful that Hijikata didn't pick up on the fact that Homura had never been this way before, at least not before they had tangible results. It was the reason Homura was going against the part of him that wanted to leap into the battle; time was precious and quickly gone. Better to get something accomplished before having a bit of fun.
