The hallways were eerily silent tonight; Rukia just hoped she was moving quickly, and that something more sinister wasn't going on. Passing by the first few hallways, Rukia turned right when she saw M10.
Axel remained as calm as ever as he entered the next area, though his blood suddenly rushed through his mechanical heart when he wandered deeper. The feeling was foreign, and the redhead found himself stopping, pressing his palm against his chest as he felt the clicking inside him quicken. His green eyes narrowed, waiting for it all to subside, and yet it clung to him even after the minutes passed.
"..." The Nobody sighed, lingering in the darkness just incase before continuing where he left off.
Barely noticing the change of mood in the air tonight, Aya made his way through the dark hallway. He didn't bother flicking on his flashlight but instead fared with the glimmer of light that glowed from other flashlights. His steps were sure and steady, just moving towards his destination, which wasn't clear to him yet. Unfortunately the layout of this facility was still quite a mystery to him.
The corridors were still busy so early in the night, a small group of people over at one end and a lone man entering from the end of the corridor. Well, suited him just fine. He slipped along the corridor near silently, his long centuries of training taking over. Heh, people would be so amused if they knew he was actually using it.
Cliff didn't have centuries of training, and he didn't bother to try concealing his footsteps. He set out into the hall, unusually thoughtful where he could usually be trusted to pay attention to his surroundings.
Which was doubtless why Kenren had no trouble spotting him. Geez, he understood people didn't all have training or couldn't be sealthy, but this guy was just... meandering, not even paying attention. He sighed and leaned back against the wall, waiting for the blond to pass by.
"You know, if you're looking to get killed, I think you're going about it the right way."
To his credit, Cliff managed to keep himself from jumping about eighty feet. But he did tense at the sound of the voice just behind him, and his first instinct was to snark right back; "Always good to have some approval."
And his second thought was to agree. He really should have been paying more attention to where he was. He sighed and turned to face the other man, resting a hand on his hip. "Sorry, I've got a lot on my mind. This hallway's always been pretty quiet anyway."

There wasn't time. He rushed down the hallway as quickly as he could without wasting the reiatsu to flashstep.

He wasn't even trying to be quiet, like he normally did. He just ran, as fast as he possibly could.

Maybe it was a sign that he was starting to give.
