Just when they were actually in the process of getting somewhere with Sasuke! Sakura huffed and refused to acknowledge her nurse as she chattered on about the boys en route to the showers, so afraid that she would punch the woman she she actually spoke to her that she just kept that mouth clamped firmly shut.

Finally left alone, or least out of that stupid cow's hands, Sakura stripped down and stepped into the water, grumpily setting to the task of scrubbing herself down before dinner.

Showers? But Rhode even avoided baths, running from the Earl every chance she could get.

Then she noticed that with these kinds of showers, you were supposed to take them together! A grin spread over her mouth before she realized. Taking showers together meant that she'd get to see Allen Walker, and that Allen Walker would get to see her...

...and they'd both be nude...!

Oh the fun she could have with that! Off went the clothes and in she went, ready for some fun. Fun that abruptly came to a halt. There were only women in here!

"Hey, where's Allen!?" She shouted, picking out no one in particular to decide to fuss at. Things hadn't been going her way all day! First her powers and that stuff with the needles, then the brat from the game room, Allen's lying, and that blonde girl...! Why couldn’t' Rhode just have her powers, take Allen and be done with it?! "You!" she called, pointing at random to someone with oddly pink hair. "Why isn't Allen here?!"

As if another patient would know. Rhode's logic was once again at work.

Already having not been in the best of moods, Sakura didn't respond well to some strange girl storming up to her and demanding to know where some boy (at least she assumed the girl was talking about a boy) named Allen. The interrogation instantly awakened the kunoichi's Ino-defenses as she donned the Sakura-angry face.

"How the hell should I know?" she shouted back, being quite the mature one about this entire situation. "I don't even know who 'Allen' is!"

As Rhode was already used to victims people shouting at her, the effect of the pink-haired girl's own shouting didn't get across. The nurses weren't as easy to access here either, so Rhode couldn't try again at getting someone else in trouble. She had no intention to anyway, she was too annoyed over Allen Walker's absence.

Instead, she followed after the girl's second statement. "He's short with white hair, and has this curse over his left eye, and a shriveled red left arm." Which would have been really easy to spot in a place like this. "He's really cute too ( ... )

Rukia hadn't eaten anything during the group therapy session at lunch, so she was surprised to find that she was actually a little hungry by fourth shift. Perhaps because of her meager upbringing and small stature, Rukia didn't need to eat often; with the frequency of meals at Landels, she had not yet been hungry. It was kind of a comforting sensation, really. It made her feel more connected to the gigai she was in, as though she was really alive. And it reminded her, in a small way, of her childhood. She, Renji, and the other boys had been constantly hungry and dirty. Opportunities to eat and bathe had been few and far between, but always something to look forward to ( ... )

"Sorries and thank yous aren't needed." River had anticipated the conversation, felt the regret. They both always felt the need to apologize for needing. More people did than not. It was confusing to sit on the outside of semi-normalcy and watch the bloody and bruised apologize to each other as they leaned on one another in time of need. "When the horse broke her back years ago in the race, she thought she'd never carry anything again. Wouldn't be able to. Doctor's probably contemplated putting her down cause she wasn't useful, in constant pain..."

The broken girl smiled.

"Would be a pleasant thing for a broken creature to be able to have someone rely on her for support, I'd think. Makes her useful. Not a useless process trying to keep up with the rest of the working whole and always falling short."

As always, it took Rukia a while to interpret what River was saying; sift through the words for the meaning. She understood, though, that River didn't mind being needed, and in fact was glad to be useful. Rukia could understand the sentiment; no one wanted to feel useless.

She smiled back. It was a small, tired smile, but there was genuine affection there. Somehow, for some reason, the other girl had been looking out for Rukia and Renji. Rukia didn't pretend to understand River's telepathy, but she was grateful for it, nonetheless.

Turning the shower and stepping partially into the warm spray, Rukia said, "I only wish I could repay you, somehow." What Daemon has mentioned on the bulletin board, about the creature that had pretended to be River, flashed briefly through Rukia's mind. The thing was already dead, though, so Rukia couldn't help there. Perhaps there was something else she could do.

"One's not inclined to give payment for a kindness given." River smiled, looking down as the water washed down into the drain. A brief life, each molecule, before they were swept away into darkness. To linger on a wall, a strand of hair... It was a fortune.

But River wasn't a drop of water. No, she was a doll, as she'd claimed time and again, and a doll was only glad not to be forgotten with the years as new models would take her place and the children would grow into adults.

"Really," she said clearly. "I'm happy if I can do anything. Was always such a trouble to people before."

It was still a little awkward having to shower with others, MOMO thought. But there didn't seem to be too many others there this time, so she was grateful for that. Another good thing about the showers, was it gave her time to think by herself.

The realian sighed as she stepped beaneath one of the shower heads and turned on the water. The conversation she had taken part of duing lunch had been... interesting, but she had to wonder how helpful it was. Things had been said, points had been made, but other than that... Well, hopefully progess would be made eventually.

A shower? Now? Well, it was better than some of their previous shift activities. If she had a human body, then it was sensible to want to keep it clean. Good hygiene was important, after all.

The Rozen Maiden undid her clothes and tossed them on the floor. It wasn’t the dress made by Father, and therefore, she cared little for them. Paying little attention to her heavily-scarred torso, the doll stood underneath one of the showerheads and turned the knob.

As the cold water started falling on her, Suigintou noticed that she was standing next to someone. A small girl, with pink hair…

Sometimes having short hair was a blessing. That was the main thought running through MOMO's mind as she set about rinsing her hair, deciding to push thoughts of lunch out of her mind for the time being. By the time she realized someone was in the shower next to her, her hair was sticking to her face due to being wet.

Glancing over, the realian parted her hair before giving the older girl a small smile. Showers or no, that didn't mean she couldn't try being nice.

"Hello."

Suigintou hadn’t started scrubbing herself with the soap just yet. Instead, she just let the cold water fall on her. So this was what a bath felt like… It was almost relaxing, in a way, refreshing as well.

“Hmmm?” She opened her eyes after being spoken to by the girl standing next to her. “Who are you?”

As pleasant as the shower was, her wet, long hair was obscuring her vision and had become a bit of a nuisance.

Group showers? Well, Hokuto didn't mind, but she wondered how many people did... not everyone here was Japanese. At least she could discreetly enjoy the view.

Only after she'd undressed and gotten under a showerhead did she really look at herself--she hadn't gotten to do that for more than a moment since she got here. As she'd noticed by touch, her chest was smooth and unscarred, not even a hint of discoloration to be had. Like Sei-chan had never touched her. Wondering, she bent down to examine her foot, where she should have a scar from dropping a ceramic mug on it when she was nine. That was still there.

She wished she knew what it all meant, but... kneeling there and wondering wasn't going to get her anywhere. Hokuto stood again and tipped her head back to get her hair wet; she could take her time, but she still had things to do before dinner.

Ahhh, a real shower! It felt like forever since Haruhi had one. In either case, she hadn't had one since she came here, so now was as good a time as any. Her hair was starting to get greasy, ugh.

She had only meant to get in there and finish her business quickly, but then she spotted someone she knew. Hokuto held a firm place on her "OK people" list, so Haruhi was happy to go over and give her a hello. So what if they were both naked? That hardly mattered!

"Hokuto!" Haruhi called as she walked up to the showerhead next to her. Taking a great glob of shampoo, she began massaging it into her hair. Ahh, to be clean again~

"How are you? Make any shield today? Or..." Haruhi leaned closer to Hokuto, as if she was about to tell her something very secretive, "Have you talked to that one woman you were looking at before?" Haruhi snickered somewhat, doubting that Hokuto would approach the woman, even if she saw her.

The hot water was probably why Hokuto turned so red at the question... "Um, I haven't seen her." For something to do, she quickly grabbed the shampoo after Haruhi let go of it and worked some into her own hair.

She wasn't exactly modest, but as she reached for the soap a moment later, she reflected that actually washing her body might be a little awkward. As she was looking down, something caught her eye; puzzled, she brushed her fingers over her heart again; was that a trick of the light or the skin was a bit lighter than the area around it? There should be a scar there, and it was going to be a while before she was convinced there wasn't.

"Is something wrong?" Haruhi asked, looking where Hokuto had just brushed her fingers. This, of course, meant she could also stare at Hokuto's chest. Sure, it wasn't anything much, but Haruhi appreciated any view she could get. Ah, she wondered if Mikuru was back home right now. The only other person she had seen here had been Kyon. Not that it really mattered. Haruhi was going to find even better people for her new brigade!

Oh, that was right! She should ask Hokuto! "Oh yeah," she began, finally lifting her eyes, "You should join my brigade!"

Raven didn’t want to.

She really didn’t want to.

Having already avoided taking a shower before, she was thinking of doing the same again. However, there was no telling when the next opportunity to shower would be. Even if she was stuck there, that was no reason to ignore her person her personal hygiene. She hadn’t taken a bath since arriving, and although it hadn’t become an issue yet, the lack of showering would make her time in Landel’s more irritating than it already was.

Why did they have to bathe in public, though?

She would’ve argued about respecting a patient’s personal space, but it just wasn’t worth it. Get in, shower, and get out as quickly as possible. Those were her goals.

Entering the room, she removed her clothing and headed deeper inside. Naturally, she picked one of farther shower heads, away from everybody else.

During all this time, Raven kept herself looking forward and only in that direction.

The less she saw, the better it would be for her.
