[From here]To this very moment, Xemnas' investigation of the building had gone quite well, without even the slightest interruption or delay. Luck appeared to be on his side for tonight, yet how long would it last ( Read more... )

[[From here.]]

"Pardon me, I hope I'm not intruding," said a voice from the doorway that Xemnas had just stepped out of, "but I've followed the trail or broken locks and this is where it has led me."

The head of a young man with golden brown hair peered around the frame of the door just enough for him to get a good look at Xemnas. The stranger was tall and strong, with dark skin and wild silver hair that betrayed his age. He looked not that much older than Balthier despite it. Though he recognized an intense competence in the man, he quelled any regret at announcing himself. They would get off on a far better note if he was honest about his presence.

Xemnas immediately turned around at the sound of the foreign voice, sweeping the flashlight beam in the direction of the sound. His amber eyes took a moment to study the stranger who had apparently followed him, the Nobody's calm demeanor not even faltering for a second.

Given the trail of broken locks he indeed had left behind, it was no difficult task to follow him. The Superior had to wonder why a stranger would do that, but perhaps this man was of the curious kind. Regardless, he hadn't heard anyone trailing him. Perhaps he should have paid more attention, but it did not matter. This man didn't seem hostile, after all.

"I see." Xemnas replied, the tone of his voice calm and passive. His expression showed only the mildest curiosity at the sudden appearance of Balthier. After a small pause, he added matter-of-factly: "The trail I have left has led you to a morgue." He gestured towards the containment units.

"How macabre." Balthier commented just as mildly, though there was naturally more warmth to his voice. Slowly he moved into the room and turned on his own flashlight, giving his surroundings a quick sweep.

"What lure does a morgue hold for you?" He asked finally after a moment of silent consideration for his surroundings. He hardly expected an answer. One didn't typically creep around in the middle of the night into locked rooms only to explain to a stranger what they were doing there.

"Like you, I have merely stumbled upon this location by mere coincidence." he replied, tone still passive and devoid of any emotion. He took a moment to observe the stranger after returning the question.

"What about you? Besides your doubtless curiosity, what interest does trailing a stranger hold to you?" A small, yet empty, smirk formed on his lips.
