It had been a quiet sort of day, the Doctor thought, despite (or perhaps because of) the return to the old command. He'd spent most of the time scrounging up what clues he could from the discussions on the bulletin, or keeping an eye out for those he knew, just to check in from a distance, to make sure that they looked like they were doing all right (or at least to see that they were still in one piece). There were still faces he hadn't spotted, but there was still time-and other rooms than this one.
After convincing the nurse to take him back to his room just long enough to pick up his journal, the Doctor settled in on one of the Sun Room couches. He opened the journal and, after thinking for a moment, began to jot down some notes.
The Doctor hadn't noticed England coming over to join him until the man had already spoken. He looked up immediately, half-forgetting the notes he'd been in the middle of writing.
"'Afternoon, England!" he said brightly. "It's been a while-well... a few days. Since town."
From the looks of him, it seemed England was doing all right, so the Doctor spared the question. He glanced at his half-finished notes once more (when had he switched from English to Gallifreyan?) and after a pause, shut the journal. "It appears they've gone back to the old routine," he commented. "Makes you wonder what happened, doesn't it?"
