Night 59: Kitchen

> Gamzee: Do something awesome.

The troll would have loved to have been able to do something truly incredible just then, but alas, they were really only breaking into the kitchen. Although the idea of grabbing a few of those pots and making a temporary drum set out of them was very tempting.

But wait. Wait. This was a kitchen. Kitchens ( Read more... )

> Rose: Ascend echeladder.

Rose returned from her fruitless search with a bag of Oreos, which she set on the counter, and then hopped up beside them, swinging her feet as she waited.

A small calvacade of creatures followed in her wake -- cockroaches, another bat, several rats. She sent sparks at them as they approached, but even in their convenient line-up it wasn't quite enough power. So she hopped down and started getting her wands dirty. Or, to be precise, dirtier.

By the time she had finished her one-woman assault, she had bounced, stabbed, and vaulted her way all the way past the ignominiously-named BABE IN GALOSHES to GRIM READER. Experience stacked itself up in nice rows, though it appeared access to her porkhollow and grist cache were still denied.

Ilia emerged into the warmer atmosphere of the kitchen with a smile, triumphant at her success. Her eyes landed on Rose, sitting as if she could wait there all day, munching on her own spoils. Working with kids never got old.

"I found our way down," Ilia announced a quiet tone. She didn't want to draw in too much attention from the swarming monsters, even if they didn't pose much of a threat tonight. Better safe then sorry.

"Down?" Oh right. They'd said something earlier about a downstairs. Gamzee hefted his now heavier pillowcase over his shoulder, munching on a package of dried fruit. (The actual package, mind you. He hadn't bothered with opening it yet.)

Hey, he was all up for more adventuring. The extra load he had now wasn't going to slow him up, though it was better when he had his sylladex to help him out. They were like pioneers or something now, carrying all their spoils around the hard way. It was pretty exciting, not to mention hardcore.

"Why don't you show us?" Rose hopped back down, and offered Gamzee the open end of the bag of cookies. She was still munching decorously, though her stomach had woken up and was clamoring for her to consume all of the cookies at once. All of them. She ignored it.

"The tasty part is usually on the inside with human food." That went doubly true for Oreo cookies, but he could figure that out for himself.

Just because she could, she pushed the door to the freezer open with a tiny spark. A rush of cold air came out in response, and she turned the ends of both knifewands into flaming torches. "Did you get anything good from our mission? Or yours," she added for Gamzee's benefit.

Ilia was game for showing them the way, though all previous reservations she might have held about their safety had all but disappeared. If the cockroaches attempted an ambush she was confident all of them could handle it. "Follow me then."

Ilia gave a small sigh when Rose opened the door with her wands, but it was not really a huff of annoyance as much as amusement in the girl's continued attempts to prove her magical abilities. Gamzee continued to win Ilia's concern without nearly as much effort. "Need a hand with that?" She indicates the package he seemed to have trouble opening. If that truly was what he was attempting to do with his teeth.
