When the entrance to the stairwell came into sight, the Doctor almost swerved sharply towards it-only to change his mind a fraction of a second later. They'd already come this far to lose that lot of oversized scorpions, and the medical wing was just a little further down. It couldn't hurt to shut the scorpions out there (presumably the creatures wouldn't be able to open doors, blast them down, or otherwise get past them-but one could never be entirely sure of that) and then take some time to have a look around there. Maybe he even could find some left over samples from the drug trials...
"And over here!" he called to his companion, making straight for the medical wing door. It was already partly ajar, so he yanked it fully open and pulled to the side to let the other man go through first.

But it didn't need him, really. Not like Billy might need it. He went through the door the Doctor had indicated without a clue as to where his erstwhile guardian might be.
