There appeared to be no one in the next hallway. Nothing, human or monster. That was a good thing - for one, Byrne was running and (unwisely) making a lot of noise, and for another, that splattered cat had not been a good sign.
If there was anything else different about the hall, he didn't notice. He was too busy running to care.
