[from
here]Just like last night, Vino turned the bend to find that he was first in the main hallway again. He couldn't decide if he preferred it or not. Patience wasn't his favorite virtue, but he supposed he'd have to wait. The two meeting places he would have to be at were right next to each other, right? So that was fine. If he had to wait a

Farther down the main hall and still no sign of any monsters. At least, still no sign of any monsters she could see. It still didn't lessen any the sinking feeling in Leanne stomach, nor did it help her feel any safer than she had when she'd left her room. She was no less determined though ( ... )

Surprisingly, this hallway was quiet compared to the past few Zero had been through. There were some prisoners in here but no monsters trying to attack them, nor any visible corpses around. He'd be lying if he said the sight wasn't a relieving one.
Good, now he could stop for a moment to catch his breath. So inconvenient, this body's need for air. As a Reploid, he could fight and run with little limit, but as a human...ahh, why was he complaining now? There was no time for that, he had a mission to accomplish. Where would be the best place to go to find out what was causing all of this? It was hard to think of an answer to that, though, as there was still so little that he knew of this place. Tonight was only making it worse, what with the pink glow everywhere and the sudden influx in monsters...
Speaking of monsters, was that a faint clicking noise he was hearing right now?
It was. Damn. He flipped around to face the direction the noise was coming from, gripping his now blood-stained pipe tightly. What was it this ( ... )

Leanne gasped, her train of thought completely derailed by the feeling of someone bumping into her. "Hey!" she cried out, stumbling some, catching herself on the nearest wall.
What the hell? What had just happened?
She turned around, heart beating frantically in her chest, only barely registering the words being said. No, her attention was taken by something else entirely, by the person who'd just interrupted her. At first, all she could see was hair, and a lot of it. As she got her breathing back under control, however, she finally made out the person attached to all that hair-- a shorter guy, practically out of nowhere ( ... )

She had to suppress a snort at the thought, shaking her head as she did so. They'd help, my butt. No, so far, it seemed like Leanne could really only rely on the other prisoners in this place ( ... )

She had to help, however she could.
...Or she would have, had the other rats also turned tail when the light hit them. "Oh, you filthy..." she ground out, clutching the flashlight closer to herself. No telling how useful it would be now, but it was the only weapon left to her now, while she was nowhere near her guns. If only ( ... )

...That is, it had been the best plan in the once-Reploid's mind before he finally noticed a second rat turning and scurrying away as quickly as it could, acting like it was terrified of something ( ... )

She let out a frustrated sigh, shaking her head. She hated feeling this useless, hated knowing that all she could do was just stand there while someone else took care of things, hated it so much.
The next thing she heard only hammered in the point further.
Run? He was kidding, right? She wasn't about to just abandon him to deal with these things by himself, not when she could still do something, anything"What?" she asked, not quite able to believe what he'd just said. If she were honest with herself though, she knew it was only to be expected. He had to have realized that, short of clubbing the ( ... )

Now, if he had realized the reason why those rats had fled - and why another one was darting away now - he would probably have a different mindset. As it was, however, he was determined to protect her by getting her out of harm's way, no matter what.
"I can handle this! Go!" he snapped, as if barking out an order to a lower ranking soldier. Politeness was nothing to be concerned with here, it was merely--tch! Interrupted--one of the injured rats suddenly made a leap for his shoulder, but it was met with a strong swing of the pipe and fell down to the floor, ( ... )

And she'd seen, and heard, of enough Hunters who'd gone in over their heads, and how they'd ended up.
Any temptation she might have had to just take him at his word and run vanished at that thought. She wouldn't, couldn't, be responsible for anything happening to him.
Leanne shook her head, ready to dig her heels in and make him run with her, if she had to. "You can't handle it forever!" She pulled in a lungful of air, squaring her shoulders. "If I run, you have to come with me too! If you don't, you'll...!" She stopped, her blood turning cold, when she heard movement way too close to her. She hesitated only a second, before turning her head ( ... )

Any hopes that it would eventually work out were shattered at the sound of his companion's shriek. No! He flipped around, expecting the worst, but saw that she had been able to save herself from one of the rats. It was only relieving for a half second. He was failing to protect her! If there were so many of the beasts now that they were able to get past him so easily ( ... )
