What she had to do tonight wouldn't be pleasant, but it was necessary. And there was quite literally no one else as qualified to do it; one last duty, and she would owe that man nothing. Not even for the gun she tucked inside her coat; he had no use for it now, and if his death wasn't entirely permanent, no right to it.
The coat still wasn't as impressive as a true detective's trench, but the weight of the gun was reassuring.
The eerie red glow, less so.
