Hakkai heard the soft click of a lock bolt turning. Free for the night, it seemed, though to do what, he wasn't quite certain - in the big-picture sense, anyway. He had someone to meet tonight, though, someone he'd offered to help. He didn't mind doing it of his own initiative, but if it helped them get out of this strange place, so much the better.

He'd barely finished gathering things - flashlight, some paper ripped out of the journal in the desk, two pens - when the alarm went off, causing him to tense. Code Red - he didn't know what it meant, but it sounded like trouble. Which meant his skills would be even more needed.

He closed the door behind him quietly, when the hallway was suddenly awash in a soft, strange pink light. A hand came up, defensively - but whatever it was, it wasn't an attack. Once he recovered from the surprise, he started down the hall, walking quickly. He remembered the way he'd come, being led back to his room, and he could find his way back easily enough.

After the mess last night had been, Neku spent a good deal of the dayshift sleeping it off or otherwise trying to feel well enough to actually go get anything done. He woke groggily to the sound of sirens and a robotic voice repeating something about a code red. Sora was already gone; had he really dozed off during dinner? The thought was a worrisome one, but he pushed it out of mind. The alert was enough reason to be concerned.

He pulled on his pins and grabbed a flashlight before heading out the door.

This might have been his first night at the institute, but Luke was pretty sure the commotion coming through his room was not on the normal nightly list of things to do. His roommate didn't seem scared, even when the room was flooded by a strange pink glow. Actually, he seemed really eager to get out. The redhead supposed he would be too. A bare room all by yourself didn't seem like much of a thrill ( ... )

Billy anticipated the night, and he was rewarded with the thrill of being right, if only on the more meaningless of scales. He knew only a fraction of what to expect, and it just so happened he was right. As he stepped into the hall, he slowed, and stared at the eerie change.
