[from here]While the door was still open, enough moonlight permeated the small area as to make a few things clear very quickly. For one, it was incredibly clean -- which said little, she thought. Most areas she'd seen had been some variation of sterile and spotless. Two, it was otherwise dark. Three, there was only one other door -- obviously the ( Read more... )

Sesshoumaru blinked as he passed from the silvery light back into the darkness, though he was pale enough that he could still be seen, illuminated in what was almost a faint glow.

The counters, the door. Once again, their surroundings were thoroughly unimpressive. Terra wasn't the only one who was becoming frustrated by the lack of success, but surely there was something up here worth finding.

The light from the refrigerator could not follow them far, and once the door closed behind her it was only the light of their flashlights to illuminate the way. She wasn't trying to adjust; just beyond here would be the moonlit patio, where the stars and snow were more than adequate to light the way.

Rather, she focused more on the balance of her walk with her new inventory. She'd tried keeping the bags similarly weighted to limited success. While they were weighted enough that they didn't jostle much against her when she moved, it wasn't an ideal set-up. The girl would need a larger pack, she realized, if this was how her travels would normally go.

And there, as her companion opened the door, the chill and cold moonlight rushed in with a sweep of wind, and they both swept out.
