Rose was still fuming when the intercom announcement went off, giving the schedule for the morning. A shower! She’d begun to give up hope for one of those and when it was announced, she was out the door with a speed that belied the shaky grogginess that had surrounded her all morning. By second shift, Yomi felt as she had upon waking up: normal, or as normal as was possible for something like her. It was a false normality, though, and she knew it. There was something wrong with her and the sesshouseki, something she couldn't see and couldn't feel but was there all the same, concealed in the pounding waves of emotion crashing against her skull like waves against rocks.
