Here, Rita turned her flashlight on and left it on. Since this was going to be their meeting place, it was important that she made sure it was clear of enemies or other dangers.
Once she was reasonably sure that the area wasn't hiding anything too dangerous, she was finally able to address another important issue: she was really

Rita returned from the pantry with a backpack full of food and her arms filled with more of the same. Carrying the haul, she sat down near the refrigerator door, opened a bag of chocolate chip cookies, and began to snack on those. Next to her were some apples and a bunch of bananas.
She'd gotten through several cookies before hearing a loud crash from nearby. Rita shot to her feet and reached for her chain. It sounded like it came from the other pantry... Either someone sneaked in past her while she was collecting food, or there was a monster clamoring to get out. She'd have to stay on guard in case it was the latter.

"Oh! Then what are we waiting for?" Taura vaulted a table, to show those nasty tables who was in charge around here, and followed him into the kitchen.

With a small sigh, Rita settled back down into a sitting position. She gave a nod to Taura. "Might as well. I don't want anyone slowing us down because they're too hungry to move." She pushed the bag of cookies forward to offer it to the others. For herself, she picked up a banana out of the fruit she'd brought out and began to peel it.
"And just so you know, I've been hearing weird noises from that pantry," she explaining, turning her head in the direction of the pantry door to indicate which one she meant. "It could just be patients, but we should keep an eye on it if we're going to linger here for a few minutes." Rita hoped they wouldn't loiter for longer than that, though. They did have a goal to achieve, so once their stomachs were reasonably satisfied, they had to get moving.

She knew the feeling, but he'd promised to help. "I'm not going to slow us down, but I could use a snack." She'd want the calories after if it came to a fight, and the easiest way to carry them was in her stomach. She popped two cookies in her mouth at once, and chewed as she renewed her assault on the hapless wall ( ... )
