In an instant the smile Sync was barely keeping up dissolved when he felt a hand drop unceremoniously on his head, replaced by his usual scowl as he refrained from headbutting the newcomer from behind.

Because that wasn't important, and as long as the guy was being compliant. Maybe he'd actually prove to be useful to the cause, since the last thing he needed was to believe that Erika was completely incompetent when it came to finding partners as well.

Attention immersed on the task at hand, he didn't get a chance to notice that he'd been spotted from across the hall, though it wouldn't have mattered anyway in the following seconds. Instead he braced himself, pulling his arm back before slamming the ring into the nearby wall. The jewel broke instantly from the force, and it wasn't long before that familiar rush of vertigo kicked in and everything went black.
