Night 57: Main Hallway, 1-West

[ from here ]As Erika approached the meeting spot, she was pleased to see that she was, indeed, first to reach there. This was to be expected: Erika was closest to this particular hallway and she could have given the others a minute's head start and still probably beat them while walking at a leisurely pace. But Erika had hurried to get here and ( Read more... )

[From here]

It was before long when Seishin entered the main hallway, though it was about as empty as those he had traveled through prior. It was here that he paused, sweeping his flashlight in various directions as he decided where to go next. In retrospect, it probably would have been better had he decided on a direction before leaving his room, but alas, there wasn't anything he could do about it right now.

The former priest knew how to reach the Sun room from here, but there was hardly any reason for going towards a lounge. The rest of the institute was unknown to him, so unknown that he had no idea where to even begin.

[For Celty!]

[from jere]

After a few hallways of thinking rather than paying attention to where exactly she was going, Celty came to a larger hallway and was snapped back to reality by the amount of activity that was happening. That was right, she had heard something like a hint over the intercom, if the man's voice had taken a backseat to her own thoughts. It made sense that so many people would be out.

She took some time to watch as groups met and patients went on by her before realizing that they hadn't given up. The day was one thing, but the night? They are least had the ability to fight their captivity. So even if Celty did not truly understand what had happened with Shinra, she at least knew that giving up made no sense. She still needed answers, if for different things now. She had to press on.

Grasping her fists before her with a boost of confidence, Celty turned her head left and started for the middle hallway. She still knew which way was out, and out had to mean some answers to at least where the heck she was!

People came and went as time passed, sometimes gathering in groups before leaving for other parts of the building. If anything, it made this area look like some sort of meeting spot among patients before leaving for purposes unknown. But the observation wouldn't help the former priest. Seishin didn't know how long he had remained here in his uncertainty, but it would hardly get him the answers he needed. He had to keep walking, even if he did not know where the path would lead him ( ... )

Determination was a good thing when there was nothing in her way. Unfortunately though, something was in her way this time, in the form of another patient that she really should have noticed. She no longer had the excuse of not having eyes anymore. But still, she went and slammed right into the stranger, pushing him forward and sending her right back with a start of her own.

She shook her head first then looked up, eyes wide that she had managed to do something so silly, not to mention embarrassing! Who did that anyway?! Crashing into another person without watching where they were going? She wasn't supposed to be so clumsy!

And with the other patient asking if she was all right, she could just feel the sensation of blushing rising into her cheeks. Her hands came up quickly. "Oh no! I mean yes but... I'm so sorry!" she babbled out, waving her hands a bit before eventually falling into a bow.

She really hoped no one else had seen that.

The woman was clearly embarrassed, but at least she seemed fine. It could easily happen, with the halls as dark as they were. It didn't seem the woman had a flashlight with her, which hardly made it any easier -- perhaps she had lost it?

"...it's all right," he said as the woman bowed and apologized, a smile forming on his lips. "It had been rather foolish of me not to pay attention myself." He had been the one standing around in the middle of a hallway, had he not?

"Were you in a hurry? I didn't mean to hold you up."

Though the man seemed to be fine, as well as all right for her having crashed into him, the fact that she actually hadn't been in too big of a rush made the action all the more embarrassing for the Dullahan. She wouldn't have done that if she'd have been on Shooter, or if she'd been able to use her powers properly instead of her eyes. And here she'd never though she would have had a reason to take issue with having her head back ( ... )

It seemed the woman hadn't been in a rush, which was a relief in a sense. He would have felt bad delaying the stranger like this when something urgent was afoot. Perhaps the problem really had been the lack of a flashlight, then.

Seishin noticed the woman looking uncertainly at the darkness beyond him as she trailed off, not finishing what she intended to say. He hesitated a moment before he turned and aimed his flashlight into the direction she had looked in. Unfortunately, the small beam didn't reveal much.

"Is there...something up ahead?" he asked her as he turned his head back to look at her. It may have been rude to ask after what was essentially her purpose for heading out, but it wasn't as though he had any other paths to take. Or at least, not any paths where he knew where they would lead.

Whether something was ahead or not wouldn't have mattered. In this place everything was uncertain, just like it was back in the Ikebukuro back alleys. But that had never stopped Celty from pressing on before. Lots of things she did had a certain danger involved anyway. Why the heck was she hesitating in a hallway of all things?

Fate or whatever the word was was one matter, but since she'd gotten her head back, maybe she was just a little more cautious about going out. She still didn't have her memories back, so she had no idea who had taken it or if that person had been the same one to give it back. And then if it wasn't her real head...! No, even if that was true, she still did not want to risk having something important taken from her again. In dark hallways, that was always a possibility.

"Probably..." she muttered even more unsure of herself as her eyes fell to the floor and her shoulders sagged down. What she wouldn't have given to have Shooter, or else a non-crazy Shinra there to make this easier.
