Night 56: F11-20 Hallway

May 29, 2011 18:18

Well, that was ominous. No announcement at all? Lana sat on the edge of her bed in the darkness for a few minutes, waiting to see if Aguilar was merely drawing out the opening of night, but after the locks had clicked open, there was only silence. Lana switched on her flashlight, and picked up the things she'd laid out during dinner. Her coat ( Read more... )

Of the day, she could say much and none, but in the end, words had been held to--the belt she had bought was in the box at the end of the bed, along with everything else. Good, then. This, at least, she would take some comfort in. She took a few moments to adjust the belt correctly, finding it fit nicely and tightly over her hips. When slipping the black jacket over it, the jacket's ends could be easily flipped up to gain access to the pockets underneath. Good. With the pockets and loops of the belt as well as the pockets in the jacket she was finally vaguely satisfied ( ... )

"Do...do you think they might?" Lily asked regarding her friends, her voice hopeful. She wanted nothing more than for the others to be free from that awful place, free from the collars. Even if the voice remained, she was the weakest one. They'd be safe.

Rose had a strange way of talking, and there were a few words that Lily didn't understand. Luckily, context helped. Some felt vaguely familiar, as if she might have heard them before and not understood what they meant even then, but Rose's attitude of leadership didn't bother her. Rose seemed confident, and it was easy for Lily to follow confidence, especially when there seemed like no malicious intent. When she was herself, she rarely felt strong enough to take control of a situation.

When the pointy objects vanished into nothingness, Lily stared wide-eyed. "How did--" she started, but her voice faded. She didn't want to overwhelm herself, not when there was so much to learn.

Dinner had gone by quietly, though Anise was beginning to get used to her roommate's lack of talkativeness. Once the girl finished her dinner, she put on the black jacket, boots, and gloves that she'd set out for herself, and double-checked that she had all the equipment she planned to bring. In one jacket pocket, she placed the folded binoculars. The other held her miniature flashlight. With Tokunaga on her back and her weapon in her hand, she was ready to go ( ... )

To be told there would be an announcement, then left waiting for nothing gave Ilia a chill. Was something wrong? Landel had his own inconsistencies, but Ilia had no information on this new overlord. She couldn't rely on anyone else to supply that information either, as Aguilar seemed to be someone everyone else was just as new to as she. He had struck her as someone who stuck to his own imposed protocol. For him to deviate from his word just seemed wrong.

Well, she would deal. Like she did with everything else she did here. She would investigate as she could, and hope something came to light before too long.

Ilia made sure her bootstraps were tightened and grabbed her flashlight and journal. Her journal she folded in half lengthwise and stuffed in her back pocket. It fit a bit uncomfortably, but once again, it was something she could deal with.

Lana was already out the door. Ilia checked over her desk once more, filling her pockets with some general first aid supplies, then ducked out of the room, shutting the door behind

The reasoning behind motives could be obfuscated or clear, and while her reasoning would be logical, her actions had been faulty. A need for movement and success would press for motion, and still there was little to give her intent to. Despite this, she changed into the plug-suit methodically. Despite this, she picked up the flashlight, and moved to leave.

She no longer had a bandage on her neck, but her hand hesitated there just the same.
