Night 55, Main Hallway 2-West

Apr 10, 2011 22:18

[from here]No one else was up here yet, at least not in sight. The hall off to his left still seemed almost to pulse with the unnatural quiet, as if it were a dark blot on Mello's mental map of the place. He didn't so much as swing the flashlight beam towards it; he turned quickly away, heading for the closet where he'd got his pipe. It seemed so ( Read more... )

She stepped out from the stairwell, and moved to the left, crouching down to press a palm against her leg. The bleeding was steady but didn't spurt out as it would if something major had been torn. Just flesh and muscle hopefully. She moved to tear a bottom piece of her shirt off, wrapping it around the wounded area. As she worked, she answered. "Of the amount of time known about in this place, Landel has only been seen a few times."

She tied the cloth tightly. "And I have only seen him yesterday, when he was fired from his position from the military. Of the newest power, Aguilar, I haven't seen yet. Nor the man Marc, from the radio, or his predecessor, Doyle." And that should cover the people that resided. The woman Jill and the nurse Lydia, the same if they were or not, Renamon doubted any had ever seen.

"So does no one know where his lair is, or is it just so heavily guarded no one's made it inside yet?" Yet was the operative word there; if anyone knew where that mercenary-napping madman was holed up, Morgan would find a way in. Preferably the way that gave her sword (what should she call this sword, anyway? Not the Blade of Dragotta--more like a knock-off, even if it was a good one. She had to think about that) the best workout.

Maybe not right away, though. Her leg was definitely still leaking blood. Morgan clenched her jaw and ignored it.

She'd never heard of Marc or Doyle, or even bothered to turn the radio on. A few people carried them around, but to Morgan anything that wasn't directly work-related was just dead weight, and that thing looked like it would break in half the first time you tried to introduce it to someone's skull. "Is that radio actually useful?" she asked.

Renamon glanced over to her. "If anyone does, they're not sharing. If he is anywhere, it's either in the locked area on this floor or the third floor." She paused, remembering the map of the roof. "The second is more suspicious. It was confirmed there is a third floor, but there seems no accessible way to get to it after from outside. And even then, it was proven impossible." A sharp fall, the girl had said--concentrated monsters if that wasn't a concern. It was definitely the most suspicious.

As for the radio.... "At times," she gave with effort. "Most of it is just talk, some worse than what Landel had gave us. More mysteries, no answers. However, there are riddles sometimes. And you can gain items, weapons. It's useful in that matter." The knuckle resting on her hand attested to that. Renamon glanced the hall. Two choices from here, more if her companion had a preference. "Were you interested in anything in particular here? I can lead you if I know where it is."

"Really?" Morgan asked curiously. A third floor it was impossible to get to from outside? Okay, that was kind of weird. And intriguing. There had to be a way up. It would be tempting just to try to cut through the ceiling and hoist herself up, but Guybrush would probably want to do it some convoluted, time-consuming way involving swiping other people's belongings at random--and talking. Whatever worked, she guessed ( ... )

"So others have said," she replied. "I haven't found a way to the third floor, let alone the roof, so I can't say. There's clearly a third floor, however, if you look from the outside." Which she was sure held some answers, if the lengths they went to hide it were that severe. She was reminded of her original analysis and wondered--if she had been correct at all, the only place in this building at least, that would allow the transport and portals of multiple worlds would be there. She frowned.

Then looked to Morgan, and after a moment, nodded. "Not yet as such," she said quietly. "Though I can take you to where you want to go."
