Night 55: Weapon's Range

[from here]

If the last room had seemed bright, this one was even brighter- or perhaps that was only because he hadn't been anticipating it at all. This room was totally new to him, and as he stepped through the doors, for the first time since he arrived at the Institute Depth Charge realised that he was aware of every part of his new body, from tip to toe. His skin prickled with anticipation. He hadn't so willingly put himself in danger in a while, and knowing that there was going to be a reward at the end...

Well, he assumed there was going to be a reward, having seen that little shield. There was still a chance this was a trap and they were all going to be strung up and left to rot the second they were all open, but he figured he'd still have that stroke of cynicism even if he'd already been through this deal before. Just couldn't tell with this place.

Take this room. It was all high-ceilings and clean lights, a stark contrast to some of the last room's more ancient weaponry, with their gritty red patina. It almost felt like being on a weapon's range back on Cybertron. Almost. He'd never felt this wary back there, not even after he found out that X was still on the run.

"You two ready?" He glanced back towards S.T. and Sword Guy, eyebrows drawn together and mouth set into a line of determination. He didn't, he realised, just have himself to look out for. While he could probably work out that the latter knew how to fight, he couldn't guarantee the same for S.T., who'd always seemed more lover than fighter or whatever the expression was. Provided 'lover' was taken to mean 'science geek', at least.
