"How many players were there in your session?" All indicators -- towers, rings, planets -- had pointed to their session having always been meant as four-player, but that didn't a priori restrict there from being parallel sessions that had now deparallelized into one big mass confusion ( Read more... )

[From here.]

As they continued further down the hall, the amount of patients thinned out, leaving it to only their group and another pair of young patients who seemed to be wandering around. They looked even younger than the three of them, which wasn't as surprising as it should have been. Sora frowned to himself, but figured that the pair of them would ask for help if they needed it.

"It's right at the end of this hall here," he explained, mainly for Roxas' sake. They were about to reach the moment of truth.

Like most of Landel's, Roxas found that Kairi's explanation of what happened to her was unsatisfactory and ultimately confusing. There didn't seem to be a point to a lot of the stuff that happened here outside of just trying to mess with people's heads (literally sometimes), but keeping someone in a locked part of the hospital for a couple of days seemed really pointless ( ... )

Kairi smiled to Roxas when he told her he was glad that nothing bad happened to her, and she gave him a bright smile. "Thanks. I am too, I admit. But it's still scary to think that they could have done something, since they had the chance ..."

At the end of the hallway, the princess looked up at the large doors, frowning. They still looked untouched. Now that the nurses were gone, would that mean their chances of getting inside were gone, too? Since she was sure the nurses had the key to the doors. However, if something important was going on behind the doors, then maybe the guards held the keys now? She doubted an entire section of the institute could be off limits, but honestly, she never knew anymore.

Watching as Roxas pulled at the handles, Kairi turned to Sora with a frown. "I have no idea ... normally the doors that can be broken down at least have easily turning door handles. But this time it looks a bit different."

She wished Sora's keyblade would still open the doors, like it used to. But, of course, they just had to take ( ... )

It didn't take them long to find it, although for a moment Sora was distracted by what Kairi had to say. She was right; it was too easy for the people in charge here to just take her again and maybe do something worse. What if she disappeared once more? Sora wouldn't know if she was out there and brainwashed or if she was in the medical wing again ( ... )

"Cut it?" he turned to Sora curiously, wondering how the Keyblade was supposed to work, when... right. He looked over to Kairi's sword and realized what he meant. He guessed that meant the Keyblade didn't open doors anymore. His certainly didn't, but he was hoping Sora's would be different. He wasn't sure how, but Roxas just imagined it was, so there was something physical and tangible that set them apart.

"Coming soon". That was kind of a weird sign to put on a door, wasn't it? Was it being built right now? That seemed unlikely, if Kairi had been taken there for some amount of time.

As if Roxas caught on to Sora's worry, the Nobody wasn't exactly thrilled with the plan either. Something in his head pulsed not a good idea. Which wasn't terribly surprising, since Roxas was pretty sure swords weren't a really good way to open doors. Not that he'd ever tried, but it didn't seem to make much sense to him. Besides, he wasn't entirely sure any of them could swing it hard enough to... cut a door open ( ... )

The "coming soon" sign bothered Kairi, even though she didn't want to admit it. What was coming soon? A part of the building that she knew had been in use, but appeared empty now? The thought sent a shudder down her spine; she couldn't even imagine what was going on behind those doors. Was Riku in there, just as she had been? Was everyone who had ever left behind the doors ( ... )

It seemed like neither of his traveling companions were that interested in his idea, and while Sora could have been let down by that, he hadn't really thought that much of it himself. It seemed pretty dangerous when none of them were that good with a sword, and Kairi had a good point about how it might ruin the one memento she had left of her old roommate ( ... )
