Tear Grants turned around to talk to him again and it seemed she was a bit more composed than before. Ritsuka still wasn't sure if the severity of her reaction had been for the same reasons as Ippo's, but it was nice to try and just get past it all. It was also strangely nice to have someone meet him for the first time as he was supposed to be, despite the weird looks. Without his ears, he always felt like everything was wrong. Even if no one else knew their significance, there was a small part of him that feared their judgment when they saw him earless. It shouldn't matter what other people thought of him and yet that alone gave him a small measure of pause whenever he met people ( ... )

Her attention instantly piqued at the boy's statement. To tend to people who "get taken at night" could only refer to the patients forced to undergo experimentation. And Ritsuka seemed to be the only one determined to do so. A pang of guilt touched Tear, knowing that someone so young was taking up the task, but it was thrown aside for a quick reassessment. Weapons would have to wait for tonight; this was far more critical.

"They would probably need to a healer," she said, almost as an aside. Any flustered or hesitant feature was gone; the teenager was set in a serious expression. "I'll come with you." Because no one else seemed to have offered. Because it was her duty, even if this world was not hers.

"You can count on me to assist."

If her aside and followed by her offer of assistance was any indication, then Tear Grants was a healer. A much needed healer, in fact. Ritsuka used to think magic-based healing was only in video games and movies about wizards, but after seeing the things people could do here, he had learned not to doubt so quickly. Day by day, the magic-reliant healers were disappearing while the challenges this place thought up became more deadly. It was an unfair balance and so to hear (even if it was conjecture) that a healer was back among their ranks was heartening.

Ritsuka nodded his head and pointed his light toward the stairs. "Thanks... But we better hurry. The doors won't unlock until the experiments are done, but sometimes the victims can't even get themselves out of the rooms and we have no idea when the night will end." Without waiting another moment, he started on his way up.
