Night 55: Intercom, Beginning of Night

Then, the static came. It grew to near unbearable levels for a few minutes, an incessant buzzing in another's ear, before it cleared away with a single snap and a low voice. No one would probably be surprised at who spoke. By now, the signs were all there.

"Your actions tonight," began the speaker, "will determine ours in the coming days. We have only begun the process of fine-tuning the system, and already, the results have been satisfactory."

Questions might have formed around the so-called results, but the speaker seemed unwilling to divulge. He took a pause for breath and continued:

"Martin Landel never understood the concept of causality. You will understand it in his place."

With that final note, the intercom switched off, and the doors to the patient rooms unlocked.
