Day 55: Male Showers [4th Shift]

Mar 23, 2011 10:40

Having to be around food that he couldn't eat hadn't been nearly as bad as it could have been considering what that food was, and so Zack felt fairly decent as he left the cafeteria and headed through the Sun Room into the showers. Actually, it was his feet that were bothering him more than his stomach. He hadn't been allowed to sit down all day ( ( Read more... )

As it turned out, getting to spend lunch with two of his close friends hadn't been as encouraging as it should have been. Guy had known going into it that it probably wouldn't turn out to be their most lighthearted conversation, but he hadn't expected to have to talk about Ion's death and all of the events surrounding it. He knew Anise was going to be down for a while after having to revisit all of that, but there wasn't much he could do about it, especially since they had just been separated by age ( ... )

It was a little sad that Edgar felt more disgusted by single meal than from having been without bathing for several days. He'd had his share of unappetizing foods, especially when between towns and surviving on provisions, but he'd never considered himself terribly picky. Aguilar's serving of gruel was making him reconsider ( ... )

Hearing a familiar voice, Guy glanced over from the shower he'd picked to the nearby changing room, spotting Edgar there. It did take a second or two for it to register, both because of the outfit change and because he hadn't seen the other man in a while. Even if his mood wasn't as good as it could have been, a smile still automatically formed on his face at the sight of the inventor. He hoped that all of his experiments with his different gadgets had been going well ( ... )

There was no arguing with that logic: while they were still prisoners in a strange land, their friends disappearing while they remained trapped in some cruel experiment with no foreseeable escape, the situation could always, always be worse. After witnessing the end of the world, Edgar had learned that lesson ( ... )

Despite the day's first shift where he had almost gotten himself into trouble with their new military captors due to Ruby's foolishness, the following two shifts had been surprisingly calm. Speaking with Renamon had given Castiel something to focus his thoughts on, whereas the lunch conversation had been both engaging and distracting. Neither of those options changed the fact that he still needed to speak to Dean as soon as possible, but it did take the edge off of his need to act ( ... )

Lunch had passed without incident, and for that, Kratos was thankful - happy, even. Somehow, he had already been drawn into two conversations on a day where he needed to move and speak as little as possible, so he had definitely welcomed the chance to spend some time alone, even if it wasn't necessarily in peace and quiet.

The showers, however, swiftly became another matter. He had thought it awkward enough the last time to have to stand by and let a nurse unclasp the massive brace he'd lugged around for almost a week, but in truth, it was far, far worse to stand by as one of the soldiers helped him get his boots off. Soldiers. The thoughtfulness (if it could be called that) was humiliating; he had dealt with bruised ribs and the persistent agony that accompanied them before, and yet now he'd fallen low enough to require a grunt to...make his life easier ( ... )

Before long, someone familiar took a spot at the shower next to his. Kratos, the one with the strange name that somehow had the same meaning in a different language on a different world. Their conversation the day before had certainly been interesting, but Castiel was still insistent on finding and talking to Dean, even if it had to happen while they were both unclothed ( ... )

Was his discomfort so obvious that it merited observation? He really had hit a new low, if that was the case.

But if it had already been recognized, that meant that there was no need for excuses or dancing around the subject. "I am." Kratos paused and ducked his head back under the water, rinsing off the suds before repeating the process a second time: he wanted to be extra thorough given the gap between showers. "I sustained several bruised ribs last night, so...I have been hindered appropriately."

He spared Castiel another glance and noticed that the other man still seemed to be standing dumbly underneath the shower head. Kratos was by no means an expert on all the ways to take a shower, but he was quite sure that just the act of standing underneath one was not exactly conducive to cleanliness. Then again, he was a foreigner in these parts; customs could vary wildly.

Or perhaps Castiel simply had more pressing things on his mind. "It seems you were luckier."

As usual, when Harvey was led to the showers he did so with the intent to get in and out as quickly as possible. In reality he knew that the steam was probably good for his wounds, but it was a pain to deal with and embarrassing in general. He'd had conversations while getting washed up before, but they usually didn't end well. He'd first met with Gant while in the showers, for one thing ( ... )

At least the day was improving significantly now! Maybe this place was under strange new management, and maybe he'd been losing large chunks of time, but at least now he could spend some blissful minutes ogling bare, wet, human flesh. What more could he ask for, really? If he had his way, this would be all they'd ever do here ( ... )

Ahh, a nice shower was always welcome. The hot water would give Byrne a chance to get clean and relax - god knows he needed it after the hell he'd gone through the past day and a half. He'd have to avoid getting his bandages soaked, of course, so he might have to remove them. Then again, it could help his wound heal if he exposed it to the water. He'd think about that when he got in the shower. Right, so...uh...wait, why was everyone stripping together?

...Aw, what? Community showers? Seriously? The facilities were this nice and they couldn't afford to make separate shower stalls? Just who built and funded this hellhouse, anyway?! Awwww man...did he really have to? In front of all these people? Son of a ( ... )
