Weird.
It felt like she'd just woken up, but Anise wasn't lying down. She was sitting straight up on the side of a bed, her legs dangling over the side.
Where was she? Where was everyone else? And... what was she wearing? It was hard to tell with so little light, but it looked like gray pants. Anise didn't wear gray, and she didn't wear pants. Did somebody change her clothes while she was asleep? Gross. The one splash of color on her drab shirt only made the outfit look even more pathetic, and a little tacky too. A happy face? Was this somebody's idea of a joke

Project 2911. Code names and numbers were an easy way to distance oneself from the human equation. SL-9. AI-16. Clinical and depersonalizing. In a way, it was comforting to know that General Aguilar needed to use the same techniques as the precinct. It made them human, a luxury they couldn't afford to return.
She wasn't going to make that mistake again. Even if it slowed her down; even if it meant losing, it had been wrong, and the only way she had to repay her debt here was to be the person Ema still saw her as.
Speaking of which, the door was unlocked. Lana flicked on her flashlight. It wasn't as bright as it had been previous nights; she stopped and grabbed the spare batteries from the drawer. One slid from her hand as she pocketed them, and rolled under the bed. Enough wasting time, Skye. She left it.
The hallway was quiet and dark; the flashlight was barely enough to make out the walls, but it was enough.
Night had started as it normally had, despite the shifts during the day. The strange utterances by an unfamiliar voice gave rise to caution, but in the end, nothing yet had happened. She had already outfitted herself during dinner. In that, there was no need to wait any longer.
She had wondered if they would be let out at the end of day, but it seemed that much had not changed. With a strange note from an unknown source, the doors opened as they had the days prior, and Rei glanced to her roommate once before exiting.
She had no plan in mind, but there were things to be done, things to explore and gain information on. She would make herself useful. This would be fact.
Asuka continued rifling through her wardrobe without acknowledging Tear's encouragement.
As if I need luck.
Such comments were reserved for those ignorant enough to believe a supernatural force dictated their lives. Asuka used her experience and actions to direct herself and those around her. She was in charge of her destiny and no one could say otherwise.
She grabbed her red jersey and baseball bat from her wardrobe (she couldn't believe it hadn't been confiscated!) and dared to hope her barrettes were still under her mattress. What was weird wasn't the fact that they remained, it was the fact that they had been placed exactly in the same spot under her new bed. Very freaky.
The second child glanced over to her radio, but thought better of it. A baseball bat and a radio would be too cumbersome. Hopefully Marc wouldn't be talking about anything critical tonight. Out of the three patients meeting up with her, one of them was likely to bring theirs.
Guess we'll find outWith that, Asuka stepped out into the hallway, letting her
