[From here.]It was probably a good time to declare everyone legally dead, because this was the fourth hallway in a row. This was what being proactive felt like. Yes. He was going to roll with that. Proactive and paranoid as hell, that was him ( Read more... )

By now Sechs' mood was souring faster than leftover cheese. The whole day had been horrible, a new dangerous force had taken over the institute, the radio guy was no help and Sechs was followed by his clumsy ally like a ball and chain. Speaking of which, Kibitoshin just wasn't following him fast enough!

Grumbling, Sechs slowed down his pace to wait for the light-bearing Kaioshin to catch up. Once Kibitoshin's flashlight was close enough, Sechs managed to catch sight of the closest stairway to the second floor. If he could get past that balcony over the Sun Room and reach the last hallway with the janitor's closet in once piece...

"C'mon!" he barked, "The stairs are just up ahead!"

Sechs might not have paid that much attention to what the man on the radio had to say, but Kibitoshin couldn't resist trying to join the dots. In the food? Did that mean that the horrible thing the man on the intercom (so many voices to distinguish between!) had spoken of earlier had been triggered by the food? At lunch, or maybe at dinner? It was probably a good thing he hadn't really felt much like eating all day if that was the case...

As for Sechs- well, by this point he was all but ignoring him altogether. All he seemed to hear when he listened was either shut up or go away, and he it was just easier to pretend they were both walking in silence. Which is exactly what he planned to do, from now on.

That, and try to keep pace with the full-throttle charge that the android seemed intent to keep up for the entire evening. Maybe if he just played along and did as he was told he'd eventually cool off and slow down or, better yet, start talking to him properly again. Not that he was going to hold out much hope...
