He peeked around the corner as subtly as he could before coming completely into the hallway, scanning the dark for any signs of things that could possibly launch out and snatch him up.
Nothing, as far as he could tell.
So he kept moving, trying to stay quick, and heading straight across the hall from the patient rooms, to the bathroom;

Normally, he went from his room to the night's designated meeting place in a couple of minutes, but Kirk paused in the second hallway, glancing back to where he knew Bones' room was situated. Had the doctor left yet or not? They were headed to the same place either way, but for a second, Kirk wondered if he should try going ahead to get a moment of private conversation with the ever reliably punctual Spock. But Kirk stayed where he was, moored less by indecision than by unexpected guilt. It wasn't that he mistrusted Bones. After all, if they were going to start suspecting the competency of officers who'd exhibited strange effects on their mind, they'd have to start with Kirk ( ... )

McCoy didn't expect to see Jim waiting around out here. He also didn't expect to see him out of terrible gray uniform. McCoy almost didn't recognize him from the back for a second, because right then, he was reminded painfully of his own Kirk. Somewhere along the way, he'd gotten his uniform back just like he and Spock had, and well, it had done wonders. It somehow made him seem even more sure of himself, stand up straighter. It was helped along by that tinge of authority that Starfleet command colors gave to a person.
The doctor drew up to him. It looked like something had gone right tonight. He wasn't actually late, but that might have been because Jim was too busy taking in the feel of the familiar uniform.
"You're almost starting to look like a Captain," McCoy told him with a small grin. Jim would always be Captain regardless of what he wore, but there was a certain added something that uniform did to the crew when he wore it. Somehow inspired them. "Gold always was your color."

Arriving at the doorway to the lower cell block numbers, Brook pushed through, hoping instincts weren't deceiving him about there being little to no danger in this hallway. All he needed was to get himself into a pickle before even finding his way to Sai's room! Keeping everyone waiting helped nothing and no one.
Brook moved down the rows of rooms, counting off the numbers he found at the edges, "M80, M70, ah M60! Down this way then..." he announced, then began moving down the hallway, counting silently this time until he found the right door or M55 and began rapping.

There were several other patients walking around, some congregating and others striding on through with some ultimate purpose in mind. No one seemed surprised at all that they were being let out. Byrne walked quickly along the wall, keeping a sharp eye out for anything noteworthy.
They all had flashlights. Did Byrne just miss out on Free Flashlight Day or something? Where the hell did they all get them from? It wasn't like he needed light to get around - he was perfectly used to moving about in the dark, though admittedly he always had some idea of where he was going thanks to Little Thief - but it was still a useful tool he wouldn't mind having.
A large door up ahead caught his attenion. Didn't that door lead to one of the larger hallways? He struggled to remember the route he'd taken when the soldier led him to his room. Well, logically, that door had to be the right way; it was the only obvious door in the hallway beyond the one marked 'bathroom' and most of the other travelers were going through it. Might as well ( ... )

Chakra buzz or not, it was imprudent to look a gift horse in the mouth: Sasuke forced himself to keep the Sharingan deactivated as he travelled through the more familiar halls of the patient blocks. It would give him time to assess the flow of chakra behind his eyes, grow accustomed to the weight and warmth of it and ascertain how much he had available.
