Night 53: Equipment/Chemical Storage

Jan 02, 2011 23:44

[From here]Thankfully this room wasn't full of cages or bizarrely mutated creatures. Instead, only cabinets lined the walls on either side. Bright yellow and dark blue cabinets. Yellow like sunshine and blue like blueberries. That meant goodies for them, right? Either way, Gant approved of the cheery color scheme ( Read more... )

When Gant indicated that he wished to open the door, Xemnas saw no reason not to allow him to carry out this task. He stepped aside and simply watched as the door yielded to the brute force used against it ( ... )

Chemicals, he said. Well thanks, Mister Obvious, Gant would have loved to reply, but common sense kept his mouth shut. You didn't make friends by insulting them, and friendly jesting was only acceptable in certain situations. He still was unsure where he stood with Xemnas, so he just ignored his initial urges and instead focused on trying to read those damn labels. He gave up on the ones with especially small print, but the ones he could read were in larger bottles than he didn't want to lug around. He could probably come back for peroxide later, anyway ( ... )

"Very well," he commented. As there was little more reason to linger within this room, he headed back towards the laboratory.

And here again was familiar ground. Once inside and comfortable that the area was secure, Renamon again moved from Ema, making enough sound with her steps that the girl could follow if she wished. The Digimon moved without hesitation to one of the cabinets, dark blue and still in the dark, and pulled it open, reaching inward for its contents.

Ema hung close to Renamon, following the sound of her footsteps as she crossed the room. "Gather all the chemicals you can find. I'm a scientist--I should be able to do something with them." Well, she was a scientist-in-training, but the point still stood. Chemistry was one of her stronger areas; with any luck, she'd be able to work from memory. "Vials and knives would be good to have, too, if you can find them."

After a pause, Ema realized that she didn't have her makeshift t-shirt bag; she had left it in her room, entirely forgotten in her rush to find Lana. That was frustrating, but it was a problem that needed to be solved quickly. As far as Ema could figure, the quickest solution wasn't terribly desirable but would get the job done. 'Well, science and survival over modesty...'

Off went the shirt. Ema started tying off the ends, hoping that Renamon would understand.

"Chemicals, it is," the Digimon replied easily. She had no knowledge of which were preferred, but the girl said any, and Renamon would hold her to it. First, she would finish in here--piling the boxes of scalpels on a shelf as she sorted for the long pairs of scissors she knew she would find. In the midst of doing that, Renamon caught the sound of rustling material, and half-turned to find Ema in a state of undress. For a moment, the Digimon couldn't comprehend the action, then the motive became clear. And for the first time in a while, she laughed gently ( ... )

Wait, why was Renamon laughing? Ema was being serious about the makeshift bag! Fortunately, Renamon quickly moved from laughter to explanation to demonstration, not allowing Ema too much time to get indignant.

"Ooooooh." A bit sheepishly, Ema untied her shirt and pulled it back over her head. Renamon's means of transport and storage were definitely superior to Ema's crude bag-making, not least of all because it meant that Ema wouldn't be walking the halls in just her bra.

After a long pause while Ema watched, trying to make out the purpose behind Renamon's movements, she offered, "Do you need help with any of that?"
