NIGHT 53: M-B BLOCK HALLWAY

Dec 13, 2010 00:15

[ from here ]She knew she shouldn't be surprised that the men's block looked the same as the women's, but she was anyway. Somehow, somewhere along the way, she'd decided there had to be some kind of difference and there was simply … nothing. The uniformity of it all was a little frustrating ( Read more... )

As much as she wanted to, she couldn't help the slightly patronizing roll of her eyes at his flashlight commentary. Sure, sure, he thought he was totally capable. She got it. The want to be useful and contribute when people weren't allowing it to happen, but it wasn't like she could just throw a bat into the cripple's hands and hope for the best. Maybe next time, but not as long as that sling was on his arm ( ... )

It wasn't often that he had to get out and then backtrack his way into the blocks again. Of course, he hadn't exactly planned for this, but he was grateful he'd managed to find Mason's friend in the end. (What was his name, anyway? "Blond Man with Bad Attitude" didn't quite cut it...)

Well, he'd have to ask about that tomorrow. Because if Mason's friend was going to be stupid and insist he didn't need any help, then the least Claude could do was check on them over the board the next chance he got.

In the meantime, there wasn't much distance to travel in this hall. Claude caught sight of Guy's hallway and turned into it.

The routine was getting older by the day, but Kurogane had no real right to complain for it. He'd managed something similar for more than half a year's time before. Granted, that had been getting to fight every night and knowing that he would get to fight, but the time was what mattered. And the fact that Fai had been far less annoying then.

If only he could have played mute here as well.

Whatever the hell the magician was doing, Kurogane had the feeling he wouldn't be able to catch the man even if he wanted to that night. Still, that's the room the ninja headed for, his pace quick as always.

Even though he knew it was ridiculous, Kibitoshin couldn't help but keep a wistful eye out for Ritsuka as he hurried out of his room, still tying the sash around his waist as tightly as he could (he didn't want to lose it). Ritsuka was probably miles ahead by now.

Oh, well. There was a chance they'd run into each other on the second floor, even if it was a very small chance, and it was worth hoping. He figured he could keep an eye out for his roommate for the rest of the night anyway- that's what friends were for, after all. And Ristuka had looked so horribly sad, too, that the thought of leaving them all by themselves, wandering the halls in mournful silence, just seemed too tragic to contemplate.

That, and he had to pick a pronoun already. He couldn't very well go on using 'they', could he?

It wasn't the first time he'd been made to wait for her, so it wasn't all that surprising when he got to the meeting spot they'd agreed on and saw no sign of her. What bothered him about it was that there was no way of knowing how long it would take for her to get here.

Walls... doorways... so many doorways. This looked like another row of patient rooms. Or a dungeon. Then again, was there really a difference? This didn't appear to be the location of the room he'd originated in, but it was definitely another section for them. How many patients did this "doctor" plan to house?

Ranulf was so caught up in deep thought as he wildly sketched the surrounding landscape, he ended up walking right into a solid wall. Falling backward to the ground, his leaflet and pen clattering to the floor, he gazed upward to find that it wasn't a wall he'd collided with, but a large human. Why did he keep running into people this way? He inwardly sighed at his own clumsiness, and quickly offered an apology.

"Oh! Please accept my apologies. My feet sometimes get carried away..." He said, looking up at the person with an apologetic smile.

The number of times this month he'd glanced at his non-existent wristwatch...

Gumshoe was a bit worried when a few minutes passed and Ms. von Karma didn't show. Were there any other errands she had to-- No no no, she would have got him to do them. Maybe she was in the middle of questioning her roommate? If her roommate had arrived late to dinner, then by the time Dr. Landel had picked up the mic, the prosecutor might have just got started.

I'll wait for another five or ten minutes. That's what I'll do. Having made his decision, the detective moved for the nearest wall that he could lean on. When he thought about his history with this hall, standing around for too long made him feel like he was tempting fate ( ... )

Ranulf squinted in the light of the bright flashlight, turning away momentarily. Who was "Ms. Von Karma"? From the man's tone of voice, she must have been a very frightening individual. The laguz let out a small chuckle at his companion's humor and, after snatching up his things, took his hand.

Once he'd regained his stature, Ranulf stood for a moment, trying to remember... what was that beorc introductory custom? Was it a handshake? Yes... that must be it! Shifting his belongings into his left hand, Ranulf took the man's hand in a hard grip, shaking it up and down quickly.

"They call me Alex here, but my true name is Ranulf. Who, may I ask, are you?" he inquired with a friendly smile.
