As fun as this female bonding thing with Donna was, as soon as the lights went down and the doctor's tone took a turn for the sketchy, Ruby put an end to the rifling around the room she'd been doing. The automatic reaction was to raise a hand to where her jacket should be -- where her knife should be tucked inside, but she lowered her hand before it even crossed her chest. No dice. That wasn't going to happen here.
On the bright side, she'd found that flashlight beneath her pillow in her rifling, even if the journal in the desk wasn't even close to useful for the time being. She'd kind of been hoping to get her hands on some real clothes that didn't itch like hell and make her look like a fool, but … well, chalk one up to wishful thinking. At least there were tennis shoes around to make her intended pipe kicking easier.
She grabbed the flashlight and cast a quick look at her roommate, then pulled open the hall door, peering out. Time to put those observations of the layout from earlier to good use. She could recall Roxas' instructions on how to get to the bathrooms -- his recommendation to get a lead pipe of some kind hadn't gone amiss, and she was crossing her fingers that along the way she didn't run anything that wanted to make her insides into outsides.
The hall was empty -- a good sign, to be sure. It meant she was one of the first ones out and would, hopefully, get to the nurse's station to meet Roxas without making him wait too long. So, she headed promptly down the hall, keeping to a casual walk so she could examine the area and get a good feel for what it looked like at night -- not too slow, of course. The last thing she wanted was to make herself an easy target.
