I was alive before coming here. To the people here who know me, however, I've apparently been dead for years.

My last memories of home are from the day I died, as well, but not the precise moment of my death. ...If that makes sense.

So if I am to understand this correctly, years had gone by for those who had known you before you died, yet your time here after dying was not as long?

Pretty much, and I have no reason to doubt it anymore. The friend I saw just days ago at home suddenly looks many years older when I see him here. If that isn't proof that something's screwy around here, I don't know what is.

A fellow patient told me that the present year here was far ahead in the future from the one I lived in. And with the way this place practically plays with time, I'm forced to consider the possibility that this institute is some sort of [pen taps] destination that's above your normal, regular reality...
