Oh, look. Peter Jackson is adding girl!Legolas to The Hobbit.

Lucky for PJ that Martin Freeman will be on the screen pretty much the whole time and providing me with a welcome distraction from whatever will be happening to the original plot.

Well I've already done my rant, so I'll keep my peace. But dang, I really hope PJ gets the message and takes her out. He listened to the fans and ditched the whole Arwen-at-Helm's-Deep thing, so maybe he'll pay attention now. I don't mind OFCs in the background, or even as part of Mirkwood's army if they want to go there, but the level of detail in this chick's backstory is sounding worryingly Sueish.

At this point I have no real belief that PJ really cares about fan reactions, integrity in matching the original story, etc. I'm just hoping for the least damage possible. :P

Looking at it as big-budget AU fanfic is really the way I'm gonna approach this. (Well, that and cooing over the lovely cast.)
