Famous Geek Men Being Ador(k)able, Part Deux.

Jan 09, 2010 23:59

Neil Gaiman was wearing a Doctor Who scarf today (DT was right, people never have gotten over the scarf). Pictures, as proof, are here.

Part of a birding report, actually, involving possible Golden Eagle sightings and some very cold weather, as reported in NG's blog, here.WHY, OH WHY isn't NG writing a DW script for next season? Srsly. ( Read more... )

Wow! Just when I thought Neil couldn't get any more awesomely geek cool, he does this.

I'm in the photos in a VERY long scarf, which I wore because it's minus something Farenheit outside and it actually helps a bit. (from Neil's journal)

That might be true, but he is also wearing it because he is a total fanboy.

Possibly the reason he isn't writing a DW script is because he received a prophecy that if he did so the world would literally explode due to squee.

Dunno about the world exploding from squee, but I sure would. XD

I've been tempted to wear my Who scarf around on really cold days, too, just cuz, but since I'm only 5'3" I usually give that up as a bad idea. There's way more scarf then there is me. ;)

It's a combination of things he already has in the fire, stuff in his life, and other ... well, I suppose, just stuff. (Not being sly here, just don't always talk to him about work; we usually talk about anything but, unless I'm working on a copyedit for him or something.) Talked to him just this evening, in fact, which was lovely as we haven't for a bit, and he sounds content to be at home for a bit, extraordinarily happy, and weathering the cold. (Which is strangely colder than it is here in NH, which is odd, as we're usually having the same sort of temps.)

He's had that scarf for ages, btw. It's a great one, isn't it?

o_O Whoa. My little "why?" comment about Gaiman and the Who ep was just meant as a rhetorical shouting-at-the-sky thing, not something to which I expected an *answer* -- certainly not second-hand from the source. Guess that's a nice reminder that when one's talking on the net, one never knows who's listening or who *they* know.

Glad he's having a good break, getting to chat with friends and such -- from his blog he seems to have been running hither and yon for much of the year.

Yeah, that is a great Who scarf. :D I like the purple in it.

Oh, I didn't know you didn't know I was a friend of Neil's! We go back, oh, almost 20 years now, to before he became mega-famous, but because of all that thither-and-yon we don't get to actually see each other very often at all. :(

No, I had no idea you knew Neil. It was my John Kovalic moment, I guess (third segment of the post is the relevant one . . .). ;)
