I believe that motion carries, and now, onto the next order of business...

But... I really liked Sybok! Sure, he was a bit gullible, but Vulcans were kind of out of practice with the whole having feelings thing. He was a neato guy.

Of course, I'm biased on that...

I think I might have been better able to get interested in Sybok and the Vulcans + emotions things if the overall movie hadn't felt like an episode of the Bill Shatner Show. :P

But, as with all such things, YMMV . . .

My friends and I once sat down to determine which Star Trek species each of us was. Halfbreeds are rare, but I came up as one: half Vulcan and half Betazed. Wrap your head around that one, if you will. It's dead on accurate, though.

But then we got to thinking: what Vulcan would be crazy enough to mate with a Betazed? We could only come up with one... so I am, as I said, a bit biased. I like my dad, he's kinda cool. He meant well, at least.

I would really love to be a fly on the wall at your family reunion. Trufax. ;)

Obviously I missed something because my first thought was that 'Sybok' was a joke name for Syler/Spock.

I seem to remember this movie only vaguely, and only the part where farts and campfires came in. I don't even remember if I watched it all the way through, I just remembered it was disatisfying.

I suppose I'm not a very good geek but I'm not sure its worth re-watching this travesty to remember what I am supposed to be hating.

Sybok was Spock's crazy half-brother; sordid details of That Trek Movie here.

ETA: you're way better off not remembering it. Trust me. :P

Personally, I loved the whole "on shore leave" part of the movie. Probably my favorite part of the whole movie, particularly with Bones yammering about how Kirk told him it would be relaxing and instead being ready to chew up iron and spit out nails watching Kirk free-climb.

And of course, Spock's omnipresent sense of practicality.

I haven't seen the new movie yet, although the previews make it look like it could be fun. I haven't seen it because the idea of making a "younger" of the original crew is just appalling, though perhaps for that generation who hasn't SEEN the original, it might be okay. Kinda like the LotR movies are great movies if you don't compare them to the books. Any reviews from anyone?
