eh, at the very least they should've told you that they couldn't pay off that bill. Doesn't matter how many problems they might've had, it just puts you in a situation that can't be managed by anyone if you're in the dark. Not to mention it's unfair.
That sucks with the bank. I thought there was some way of checking which checks have been cashed and which are still outstanding, if you know what check number is the last to go out - the banks should be able to tell you if there's anything outstanding. But I dunno, never closed an account like that before :/
Considering all this, you might consider skipping Anthrocon? That's gonna be a pretty major expense next month... If you do plan on going still, I'm thinking we should plan on train or bus rather than your car. Prices might be even higher next month :(
despite the problems you are having, i am very pleased you are here and am having a lovely time seeing you again. i have missed you!!!! i had better see more of you before you leave! love ya! K
