This is a test.

Public entry so I can look without being signed in and see what my LJ is doing when I'm not the one looking at it.

This is only a test.

Had this been a real entry, it would have been locked and interesting.

Or at least locked.

Hallo. You don't know me from Eve, but Ekat sent me here.

I'm a new member of the SCA in the Insulae Draconis (UK), and I am adding you so that you can see what I'm looking for. I've decided to go for twelfth century, and by way of a first garb I'm planning to make the bliaut shown here, using the underdress from Burda 7977. This is not going to be historically accurate, mainly since it's going to be put together from some old household linen, but it will give me something to start with.

However, at some point later on I am hoping to make essentially the same outfit but out of decent fabrics and with proper attention to detail, and I'm finding myself with a few questions about these details, which I've aired in this post. I would be really grateful for any help or advice you could give!

Hi! Wow, that's cool. I'm no kind of expert on 12th c, but let's see what I can help with, and maybe I can hook you up wiht someone closer with the expertise you will want. Also, I'd bet that when you wear your new gown, you will meet others interested in the same period.

I'll gladly friend you back! Cheers!
