11/23/09 - Weekend Recap

Back from Philcon. A enjoyable time of great panels...all on editing, seeing friends, making friends and embracing opportunities. I think there'll be a swing to the 'Smaller is better' mentality, with POD and small press publishers working more closely with their authors, with a view to developing a career (and back catalogue).

I imagine this is probably how publishers first developed, but in this electronic age, it should prove easier (not easy, but easier) and less financially risky to nurture new authors.

Specialized rather than so diversified one end of the business doesn't know what the other has done? Yeah, I can see that :)

Maybe creativity will enter back into the process!
