Today Was The Day… - Epilogue
Jaejoong slowly opened his eyes as he woke up and looked down at the baby girl his body was curved protectively around. His eyes grew soft and large, and his lips parted as he gazed at the baby in awe. He did not know how much time had passed but his stomach growled in hunger and Jaejoong slipped carefully off the bed as to not wake the baby and crept quietly to the kitchen. He stopped in front of the fridge as he saw a note stuck to the door written by Yunho’s hand:
We’ve gone to the park - you both looked peaceful
so we’d feel bad if we woke you up. Come and join
us if you wake up in time, my little kitten~ <3
How is it possible that you’re beautiful even when you’re asleep?
Jaejoong smiled at the note and spoke aloud, “You’re the beautiful one.”
Jaejoong looked down at the baby strapped to his chest as he hummed DBSK’s The Story Has Just Begun. He glanced around for somewhere to sit and moved to a bench. Jaejoong carefully lifted the baby from his chest and removed the baby carrier.
Yunho looked down affectionately at the laughing boy who was holding onto his hand and looking for stones amongst the grass. The boy tugged Yunho’s hand to capture his attention and he followed the boy’s hand to see what he was gesturing at. Yunho smiled as he saw who it was and they both walked over. Feeling the boy’s impatience, Yunho let go off his hand and watched him run the short distance to where Jaejoong was sitting on a bench looking down fondly at the baby he was holding.
The baby started crying and the boy held out his hands. “Give her to me!” he demanded imperiously and Yunho and Jaejoong exchanged fond looks with each other as Jaejoong carefully handed the baby to the boy.
“Sssh, oppa is here and will take care of you,” the boy soothed as he rocked the baby tenderly walking towards the river.
Yunho pulled Jaejoong up from the bench and held the shorter man from behind; his arms wrapped tightly around Jaejoong’s waist as he rested his chin on his shoulder. Jaejoong placed his arms on top of Yunho’s and their hands held onto each other, the vivid setting sun glinted off their rings. The wind gently caressed their hairs as it brushed through the trees in the pale sky and they watched the sunset over the river.
“Even though it’s been two years, I want to thank you for coming back to me.”
“I could never leave you alone, little kitten; you hold my life, my heart, in your hands.”
“And I will never let go.”
The baby’s soft gurgle reached them accompanied by the boy’s gentle singing.
“Our children are so beautiful.”
A smile accompanied the reply. “I agree, but aren’t we being biased?”
The answering laugh was cut off by a loving kiss with the softest of lips.
“Saranghae.”
