Ok, you asked the me, aka anonymous (from det0nator's post), a question, so I figured I'll give you my answer directly, :P
I don't want to offend anyone here in LJ (or friendster, multiply, myspace, etc)... while I respect your choice in joining these kind of sites, I don't think they would work for me. As I've said, for me the word friend has such a deep meaning for me, and sites which have the option/feature of "adding" friends, etc, diminishes that meaning for me. I know LJ has a "friends only" feature, but that still seems so shallow, like "if your not yet my friend here, let me know so that I can add you"-kind of shallow. It's like defeating the purpose of real friendship, and you have to apply for admission or even ask to qualify as a friend. If people want to be personal and update your friends about your life, then just meet up with your real friends, or call them, or text them, or if you really don't have time to do all that, e-mail them. It's not right to tell your friends to check out your That's why I think the phrase
