XF TV Guide Covers

Because niuxita21 asked, because I love me some trip down memory lane and because I need a distraction from the itch I have to click on all those pesky Castle spoilers, I give you: the XF TV Guide covers retrospective!

And okay after a closer look, maybe not all TV Guide photoshoots are epic...Especially the ones from the first years, but I blame it on the ( Read more... )

Thank you thank you thank you! Man, I really missed out on being a fan of this show in real time (due to the fact that I was, like, 5 when the show started). The one with Gillian and the green X is lovely! And I love that you identified the '97 cover just from Scully's hair. Seriously, show me a screencap of Scully and I'll tell you which season it was just by looking at her hair. Beckett's hair is following in its footsteps.

Siiigh. Thank you for this nice trip down memory lane. :) God, I miss these two.

You're welcome! :)

Oh and I can completely relate on the missed all the fun feeling, since I became a fan while S9 was airing in the States! Oh well it could have been worse, at least at that time people were still really active on boards and it was early enough for me to be able to enjoy Gillian's theatre career :)

And I love that you identified the '97 cover just from Scully's hair. (...) Beckett's hair is following in its footsteps.

Yeah, you can't call yourself a fan until you can know the year/season of any Scully hair xD
And Beckett's hair is definitely following it footsteps, it changes all the time! It actually changes twice as more, lol. At least with Beckett we "only" had 10 episodes of god awful hair xD With Scully the bad hairdos were less hideous, but they lasted longer!:p

Hopefully these are of a somewhat normal size. Here's the TV Guide version of that march 95 cover.

Oh, gosh, I'm sorry. I am apparently having a ditzy day and thought you'd posted this in the xf community. Hence my entirely uninvited crashing of your TV Guide picture post-a-thon. Is it okay that I jumped in?

Don't be ridiculous, of course it's okay! It's more than okay; the more the merrier! ;)

And man, I *knew* those "triangle" photos were from a TV Guide, originally! Could find it on other mags cover but couldn't find the original one.

And I can't believe I forgot the double-cut-in-half-smooch cover, as it's another one that I really would like to have, someday. It's just annoying that the shipping rates from the US to Europe are really quite expensive for magazines, as it can be quite heavy packages :(

I need to go to the US for like, a month and use that time to raid e-bay and get sent lots of stuff xD

Thanks very much for the pictures! :)

I love that photoshoot. It's somehow so bad and so good at the same time. I feel like a figure skating judge: high marks for creativity, kind of bizarre technical execution.

I actually have those ones! I got them at Value Village of all places. And inside they have that picture of Gillian licking David's face that never fails to make me feel like I might faint.

Aaaah it's got the licking pic inside as well??

I definitely have to put my hands on one of those, then :p

This should interest you: http://www.wolfstad.com/xf/

It's to my knowledge the most extensive record of all X-F covers ever published. (though I do have a few French things that aren't there.)

The French mag covers were so shippy! Check these out:

Oh my, you just have given me access to a gold mine, thank you!!!

And haha yes, I remember the "Mulder et Scully amoureux" (well, the online version of it); the headlines of this cover are just cracking me up. It's so soapy!! :D

The Belgian ones were really shippy as well for what I could see; I'm pretty sure one cover has the photo when Gillian is barelegged on David's shoulders. Teehee.

I used to be a crazy XF magazine collectors. I still have 4 Ikea metal boxes full of mags

By all means, if you ever decide that they take too much space, contact me xD. I remember a few years ago, a fan that lives in Canada told us on the gagc board that basically she was getting rid of all her stuff and she had already binned bags and bags of magazines because she didn't know anyone who would want them. (Needless to say she hadn't published a post about whether it would interest someone). I remember how much it shocked me because when you come as late to the party as I did, getting your hands on anything from the golden XF era was a challenge. ( ... )

So. Damn. Pretty.

I came late to the fandom as well (I think I started watching in late season 3). XF was my first big love, fandom-wise, and it was lovely to see some of these pictures again and to see others for the first time. Thanks for posting these.

Stay strong on the Castle spoilers! I wish I had your willpower ;-).

Late Season 3 is early to me !! :p

XF definitely still is my number one fandom...I may not be very active in it still but there's just...something special about it. It just is such a big part of me, it'll never be replaced even though since I fell in love with a few other shows.

I must say I am quite proud of having resisted all and every single spoiler since that infamous Big Bad Spoiler of Doom from a couple of weeks ago. I'm happy with that, I hate having stuff spoiled, but I just wish everything in the fandom wouldn't revolve around them. I'm so happy that I'm home on holidays until next monday, because at least my life isn't completely centred on Castle news and it makes it easier to not click on those links :)

Oh and by the way, I think I owe you reviews so I'll take this opportunity to say that I adore your Castle fics :) Hope you write more soon! :)
