Paging The Vegas Goths-Viva Goth Vegas!

Orbitz is having a Vegas sale. the Sahara is $19 per night plus taxes and fees. I'm looking for a place for silentq and myself to crash before we head on out to C16 and don't really care about the size of the TV in the room or gambling, just looking for location near the wedding and price, of course.

Thoughts on this choice? Would there be a better

I've only been to Vegas the once, so I can't offer personal experiences, but I was just looking at Y! Travel for rooms for one and they're showing The Fremont and Four Queens with 3 stars and 4 user-review smilies for $36 and $31, respectively, and they're both just over half a mile from the chapel, as is the Golden Nugget ($59, 4 stars, 4 smilies). (All rates nonrefundable, add about $5 in taxes.)

Yeah, the Golden Nugget was about $55 to $58 on Orbitz as well. I'm liking the idea of the Excalibur if for the Medival styled market/carnival thing they've got going on above the casino. Still researching, but I want to book ASAP before the rates go up.

The Sahara is not a bad place, but the location is the worst of all worlds. It's not downtown (although it's not far) and it's also on the extreme end of the Strip, very near some pretty sketchy areas.

You'll be car-dependent if you're there.

OK, this is the kind of information that I was looking for. I'll email silentq to discuss alternate hotels. Definately want to avoid sketchy areas. Also realized that the Sahara charges more for non-smoking rooms. What I'd be saving in hotel costs, I'd probably spend in taxi fare.

For the name alone though, I like the idea of Four Queens. :D Must be the latent drag queen in me. It's closer to the Graceland Chapel, and the Golden Nugget.
