Drabble - Leaving the Past behind...

No one said that life was fair. Here you are because you asked and I couldn't say no... For my Berlock who always understands...

He is alone in the house. Surrounded by ghosts. They mock him, mock his sadness, mock his loneliness. He has no right to these feelings, he is the cause and he must pay the price for it. Pay the price for wanting what he wonders if he has the right to.

Walking through the house, he realises he cannot live here again. The ghosts will never let him rest in peace. The house is angry with him but its day is done; it is time to move on. He packs his bags, goes downstairs to the door.

Outside a car is waiting, ready to take him to his new life, the driver toots the horn and waves. His face is transformed, he lights up like someone just switched his happiness on. He ignores the growling reproaches of the past and walks forward to greet his future.
