Buddhists Make Me Violent

Recently I saw a new documentary film about Zen Chef Ed Brown from Tassajara Mountain Retreat Center and one of the founders of Greens Restaurant in San Francisco. He is a large caucasian man I could easily picture as a convict somewhere, making license plates and carving primitive tattoos into his cell mates' arms. You're right though - and it's not just Buddhists, but many of the New Agey peeps who think their "spiritual enlightenment" has made them some sort of always-happy/self-righteous/quiet-talking bastards.

So often people stumble onto The Path and go a little ways, uncover and identify some of their demons and then stop because OMGIMSOENLITENED! And really, all they have done is unburied the demons and now they are GIANT AND FREE and worse - the people think that they are better, more evolved because of it. Which makes them EVIL. Whispery, insufferable EVIL.

Speaking softly is crapola. The goal should not be to still the ocean but to learn to surf.
