The wonder of doing business on eBay?

So, on an Ambien binged very late night shopping spree, I bought a crap ton of "sterling silver" bangles on eBay.
As much as I hate buying anything from the Chinese (lead anyone?) several of the sellers were in Hong Kong or Shen Zen (which smells of urine, I know, I could not wash it off my sandals for love or money.)

*I* would take the money and leave the negative feedback - and send a formal fraud complaint to eBay. However, the cost of that almost certainly will be retaliatory (and false) negative feedback on you as a buyer, and eBay has a reputation for either doing nothing or favoring the seller in such disputes (they get their money from the sellers, after all). If you're willing to pay that price, go for it.

At last count, ebay made it so that sellers could only leave positive feedback. They can say whatever they want, but it'll still count as positive.

I had a similar situation once; buyer selling something as leather that turned out to be vinyl or similar. As this was on a fireplace bellows, and had melt marks, it was pretty egregious. She refunded my money.

I left her, ultimately, neutral feedback because I felt we were back at "no harm no foul" and she had a complete fit. It wasn't a positive experience so there was no way I was going to leave positive feedback. Neutral supposedly means neutral; it's not a negative.

That was 3+ years ago; I understand that the feedback system has been altered to favor buyers more these days.

I'd keep your feedback at the level you feel is appropriate for the whole transaction, but if it's anything short of gushing A+++++++++++++++++ the seller will be grumpy.

As for the metal itself, there's a good chance there's cadmium in it as well as lead.

I would not take her money and would certainly leave the feedback.
Honest is honest!

The point of the feedback is to let others know what your experience was. If it was bad, then you should say so. You might want to add an additional feedback to say they refunded your money when you pointed out they had sold you fakes.
