I don't like Jahnke much. He coached me through a few teaching episodes last semester in the music ed conducting class including my midterm prep day. He seemed really on board with my conducting and was very optimistic about my conducting, but he graded me like a bitch for the actual midterm performance. His grade was the lowest out of all the ones that graded me and I don't even think Dr. Raiber counted his grade because it was so ridiculous.
After that, I lost my respect for the man. Don't be nice and then be a dick.
My only real experience with the guy was during Pride rehearsal - he was really the only director to get the trumpets to shut up long enough to improve.
At that point, I was sufficiently frustrated with the section leadership that any direction, regardless of how bluntly enforced, was welcome.
