I have been pro-choice pretty much my whole life. I respect the fact that there are people out there who think differently than I do, even people who I am good friends with, and while I do my best to respect that, I also hold steady to my own opinion as well ( Read more... )

I, as you do, respect peoples choices.

I know some bad situations happen that are out of a womans control and if the result is pregnancy then she should have the right to choose 100%. (whether that be rape, complications, etc.)

However sex can- with or without birth control, with or without protection- lead to pregnancy and if you choose to have sex and it results in pregnancy then too bad. You wanted to play house.

I know pretty much every single person I'm friends with feels otherwise but I hate when people want to shove off responsibility but still do the deed.

And I also know that with or without abortions being legal there will be girls/women out there doing "homemade" abortions but it doesn't make it right.

I am glad that you read this, I know that you are one of the friends that I have that DOES have a different opinion than I do on this, but can still discuss things or hear other people's ideas and react to them in an open and adult/mature manner.
And I do agree with the idea that not enough people these days take enough responsibility for the choices that they make regarding sex. Its just become very casual, and I don't see it like that (I have gotten into heated debates with a couple of men on this).

My brother had an excellent point on the subject.

"Pro-life? Okay. Free day care."

Of course I'm pro-life. Honestly, who isn't? Abortion is a sad, shitty thing in our world. But it is a quality of life issue. If you want to argue that that baby needs to be born, you better have a host of ideas on how to raise that baby to benefit the single, working mother. Out lawing abortion just isn't feasible.

How close we were! Imagine if Palin was in office now? Eee...
