Janine had expected as much, especially when it took so long for the man organizing the event to actually show up. She was still a student, of course, and better with physics and computers than biology and chemistry, but she still wanted to see what this was all about.

She resisted the urge to point out that I've got was redundant, and that he should have said If you haven't already figured it out.

"What is that 'something'?" she inquired.

"Chemistry homework," Luis told the... wow, how old was she? Not that he'd never heard of child prodigies, he just wasn't very interested in them.

Her face set into a frown at that. It wasn't a very informative answer.

Well, she would wait and see. Others were asking much the same question; perhaps the man would elaborate shortly.

Daniel twiddled his thumbs. He never particularly liked to be in meetings, but working alone was all right for him. He was pondering why Luis had requested a meeting like this when the very man entered the room.

In response to what Luis said, Daniel raised his eyebrows in interest. "So what is it that you want us to do?"

"We're going to make a vaccine for the crab virus," he answered Daniel. "I've got the basic chemical sequence down on paper at last... the only problem is it's 80 pages long and we don't have that kind of time. So the idea is, I hand everyone a few pages, we all synthesize what we've got, then we get our results together and get the vaccine ready."

"A vaccine?" Daniel replied. Chemistry and health were not his forte, but he knew a bit of rudimentary knowledge about each.

"Okay...so, when are we going to start?" Inside himself, Daniel hoped that he wouldn't mess anything up. He didn't want to be the failure of the group.

"As soon as possible, with any luck," Luis explained, and handed Daniel one of his folders full of notes. "Here is a piece of the sequence I want to try out... As soon as you work through it, get in touch with me. If you need help, you can also get in touch with me. I use a radio frequency to communicate instead of the journals."

Clinics were not generally something that Xemnas was interested in (he had little interest in fixing mundane problems), but for lack of anything better to do he had decided to come and see what all the fuss was about. He could still manage some semblance of politeness.

"And what is it that you wish us to do?"

"Nice hair," Luis commented with a raised eyebrow, and then proceeded not to answer the question at all.

"Here, I'll be giving things out in a moment..."

"It was not entirely my choice," Xemnas answered with a shrug that spoke of having tried - and failed - to do something more 'normal' with it. Having a lack of memory of his parents, he was simply assuming that his pale hair was due to inconvenient genetics - and he would use that to his advantage.

Unless it seemed that something else would work better.

"Hey, I know how it goes. You wake up some mornings and you can't do a thing with it," he said consolingly. "Give me a minute, I'm making my way around to explain."

Luis seemed hurried, but that was because he wanted to get this done with before they had any party crashers. Particularly blond ones in sunglasses.

Excella had arrived promptly on time, taking her own seat away from most of the others. Hair let down and dressed far more conservative than normal (it was best to keep appearances at least), she held a notebook in one hand and a pen in the other.

So they were making a vaccine? She watched Luis as he answered the man's question. "And just how long do you expect it to take to formulate the vaccine? Do we even have the necessary supplies?"

If Luis was anything less than pleased at Excella's appearance, it certainly didn't show on his face.

If he planned on talking business with her, that was also fairly hard to tell from his response. "Hey beautiful, long time no see! Why didn't you call me last time?"

Her eyes narrowed. She should've expected as much, really. "Honestly, Signor Sera," she quipped. "Would you please answer the question?"

One leg crossed over the other, she leaned forward and raised an eyebrow. "Please?" she added. "I would prefer to keep this strictly business."

"Oh come on, baby, where's the love?" he teased her, heading over in her direction.

"I guess work before play's a better philosophy. If everyone pitches in and all goes according to plan, we're looking at as little as three days or so for full maturation. I obviously can't make enough all by myself, so you're all on your own for your parts. If you need anything in particular I can try to arrange it, but I'm a very busy man, you know."

Garbed in plainclothes, Fran had been distracted for some time by the... well-endowed woman over on the other side of the room from her (and it seemed she had captured Luis' attention as well). The biggest question running through her mind was just how scientific that woman really could be. In Fran's experience, people who looked like that weren't altogether too bright! (Even if she did try to look "presentable", well. It was hard to hide mammary glands of that magnitude.)

Ah, but she would silently pass judgment when there wasn't important business to take care of. "I did say you had my attention. I'll do the best work I can," which really meant "the best work ever", but she wasn't going to say it out loud.

"Excelente, Dr. Madaraki. I was hoping you'd be on board," Luis told her when he had a moment to approach her by herself. "Particularly in the distribution phase... you see a lot more patients than I can."

"Mm. Fewer than I'd like, but still more than enough." She smiled at him. "I am of course well-versed in the process."

"Actually being a doctor probably helps too," he said with a self-depreciating smile on his face. "I'll be counting on you medical people to see this get out, if, of course, it actually works."
