He didn't know what use he would be in a situation like this. He didn't have the faintest clue what was in the briefcase, anyway; he'd just heard faint whispers of something of interest and come to investigate.

Nash Tringham -- alias Nicholas Rutheford, having now thrown away his name the way he had everything else -- stared at the briefcase, looking it over. The lock wouldn't give. And the only method he could think of for opening it would be physically draining, given this city's limitations. Still, if it was locked this tightly, and had been found in the wreckage of a downed vehicle from outside the city limits, it had to be important.

Kang wasn't really sure what he'd be able to contribute either, but he was interested in finding out what was inside of the briefcase that had been found. The damn thing was locked, though, and it was looking like no one had a clue how to open it.

Well, the draconian had an idea.

"Let me see it," he held out a hand, and as soon as Nicholas turned it over, Kang promptly smashed the lock against the nearest hard surface, breaking it open by force. Then, he set it back on the table, contents revealed to be an external hard drive, the padding having protected it from damage, and a large envelope.

"There. No need to complicate things."

About the moment the case had been opened, Peter snatched up the hard drive. Computers were right up Peter's alley.

He looked it over as he went to one of the computers. It wasn't a commertial one you could have gotten from Best Buy or Radio Shack, but it was probablly still comptible with the PCs here. He plugged it in and waited for it to load and... of course.

"Guys, it's asking for a password"

Not that Peter was all that surprized. It was in a locked breifcase. There was something on this hard drive that somebody didn't want getting out.

If there was anything Veidt could say for the state of chaos so many were confined within, it was the endless opportunities that arose for challenges ( ... )
