And that man was coming closer wanting to talk.
Waiting for the others just got a lot harder.
Now what? The others were expecting him here, so he couldn't leave. Not replying to the man could cause trouble too.
He opted to take a step away from the wall and give a nod. Social was not something Derek did often. Being a secret agent hampered that, and he was never much of a talker in the first place. "Yeah. A few." He looked toward the hotel's entrance then asked, "What happened here?" hoping that would shift the focus off himself for a while.

This man seemed to know at least a little of what was going on. Maybe he could start piecing things together with his help. He'd confirm the information with the others when they eventually got to the hotel.
"You--" Derek stopped when he got a better look at the man, more than just a quick glance. Was he talking to who he thought he was? He barely stopped himself from doing a double-take and shook his head to push away that strange dizziness again. That man was Captain Kirk. Okay, that was a new one.
Derek thought things would be fine once everyone regrouped, but now he wasn't so sure. "... There's more happening here than I thought."
