Botan pressed the nib of the blue pen against her bottom lip. The blank sea of white and blue lines called up to her and the crisp paper was smooth under her fingertips.

Since most everyone in the apartment had decided to go off and do some sort of epic adventuring, she had decided to now would be a perfect time to relax. She had found this spiral notebook and was thinking on how to fill it. Pictures? Poems? The account of her time here? Nothing had come to her and the page still mocked her, filled only with mindless doodles of hearts and swirls.

A tendril of hair fell in her face. Maybe she should have put her hair in its ponytail this morning.

As she contemplated, there was a knock on the door. "Coming!" She stood up and pulled down the sleeves of her shirt she had rolled up while working.

"Hello~" She beamed as she opened the door. It took a moment, but she did notice Shikamaru's attire. Her cheeks colored slightly. However, it didn't change her happy expression. "Come on in!"

Absolutely no icon correct for this. troubledshadow June 24 2009, 18:47:01 UTC
Shikamaru took a step in, Botan was certainly a sight to see with her hair down. He wondered why she ever put it in a ponytail anyway. No, no, no thinking, this is one of those points where thinking gets in the way.

He took a step into the door and put his arm around Botan, pulling her close, and pushing his lips to hers. He didn't do this before, and something about timing and setting didn't seem right earlier, so finally he just decided to go and do it. Kiss her, it was right, part of relationships. That is how dating worked, right? Granted, these thoughts and a thought of retreat were a little late now since he had already pressed his lips to hers.

How long should I kiss her for, is there a time limit, is it awkward to not break the kiss. Maybe I should let her break the kiss, that might be less troublesome. Shikamaru's mind continued to run, however his thoughts were often interrupted by thoughts of how this felt nice.

Her eyes widened as his arm wrapped around her and, in an instant, his lips pressed against hers. In no way was she expecting that. It was a surprise, and that made it all the sweeter.

Botan's brain wasn't able to think coherently, so her instincts just kicked in. She kissed back softly. Similar worries flickered in the back of her mind. Can I wrap my arm around him, too? (She did.) Am I doing it correctly?

After a while, she reluctantly broke the kiss, but didn't pull away. No, no, she quite liked it there.

"S-Shikamaru..."

Yet more importantly, Shikamaru had done the impossible: he had left Botan speechless. I would say a job well done.

Shikamaru did find that quite pleasant to do, and the results seemed to show a similar reaction from Botan. He just held her close, "We got the apartment mostly to ourselves, less people that might notice me coming in here to do something, well, like that."

New territory was always difficult to traverse. "So... I was thinking we could stay in and relax." Now, stay in and relax was a common activity for the Ninja. But to have company for it, that was the new territory in question.
