Dahlia had said she wasn't going to work on the shop today. She said she was going to stay at the hotel and brood, because she couldn't guarantee a chipper mood if she came across anyone. But this looked far too promising, too interesting, to pass up.

She was currently wiping the dust and debris off of the counter tops and tables. Everything needed to be tidy when she intended to open in a few days... The man was certainly taking his sweet time, though. She made a sour face as she threw the wet rag into a bucket, grunting angrily.

She heard a ding and turned around, smiling, to the guest. Ah. There he was. "Fugaku-san? Please, have a seat..." She gestured to the only table that was completely clean before turning back to the counter and grabbing the teapot and cups.

Fugaku smiled slightly, an expression made far darker by his narrowed eyes, and lazy slouch. Dahlia-san was a small woman, and thin, with long red hair. He didn’t find her beautiful, or even pretty, because there was something off-putting about the fact that Fugaku could have snapped her neck with one hand. She was no kunoichi, despite her smooth words and falsely-comforting smile, but there was something, something about her, that said she was smart, and ruthless.

He smiled wider. A woman who knew what she wanted, and exactly how to get it. They would talk business, alright.

“I prefer to stand,” he said quietly, and leaned against the wall. Fugaku’s stance was loose, and to the casual observer, relaxed. His arms were crossed, but angled, so as to be able to snap the knives out in an instant, if needed. “Do not take offense, Dahlia-san. It is my nature, not to trust.”

Fugaku cocked his head to the right slightly, hair falling over his eyes. “You understand, yes?”

Dahlia set the tea set onto the table and arched an eyebrow at him before pouring him a cup. "I take no offense at all, Fugaku-san. I have given you no reason to trust me," she replied gently as she handed him his cup. She turned and poured her own cup, sipping on it slowly as she watched him for a moment.

"You will not take offense that I only trust myself as well, then?" Her brown eyes glinted as she watched him from the brim of her tea cup. "It seems we have that much in common."

A low chuckle was Fugaku’s answer. He liked this woman. Much smarter than what you came to expect from civilians. “That is wise,” he told her simply, and accepted the cup, though did not drink, only held it loosely in one hand.

“I would do no such thing, Dahlia-san,” Fugaku said, still smiling at her.

“You said that there was a problem of yours,” he continued, “that needed to be solved. Someone of my…expertise, you could say, was needed.” He cocked his head to the side. “Talk.”
